My name is Helen Gossett and I’m in need of some help with a Pendl heritage. My husband’s grandfather was Sylvester Clarence Pendl, Born 12 May 1906 in White Cloud, Newaygo, Michigan and Died 3 July 1982 in Niles, Berrien, Michigan. His father was Paul S Pendl, Born Aug 1862 in Massachusetts and Died Apr. 29, 1936 in 512 Ohio, South Bend, St Joseph, Indiana. His father was John Pendl, Born 28 Feb 1820 in Moran, Germany? which the city of birth "Moran" is information I obtained from his draft registration and Died 9 Aug 1882 in South Bend, St Joseph, Indiana I’ve not been able to find any more information clues except that his craft was a “carver” or “stone carver” and he lived in Buffalo, NY with his wife Mary Gerthro (also from Germany)for a time. Also, he reportedly had some or a stone sculpture at Notre Dame at some point. I had a hint in the 1900 Census that a grandmother of one of John and Mary’s children was living with them and her name was Elizabeth Hart, born abt Jun 1814 in Germany. If anyone has information about these Pendl’s I would love to have your help. Thanking you in advance.
