It was in the civil birth record you posted on your family tree in Otto's record. I would encourage you to check the available films at the LDS (www.familysearch.org
) for Duisburg. Click on the word "catalog" at the top and type in Duisburg. It will show you all the records available for that city. There are civil as well as church records for both catholic and evangelical parishes.
How were the kids raised in America: protestant or catholic?
I noticed when Lambert came to America he noted that he was going to see his brother in law Peter Wiland; he appeared to be accompanying either his sister or sister-in-law Gertrud W(e)iland and her children to Corning, OH.
Have you done any research on that group? What is the exact connection - does it perhaps help you in going back? You should check out this family tree and researcher:http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/31324503/person/12424185142
There are also emigration records for Duisburg too Auswanderungsakten 1822-1920.
Anyways, good luck.
