Does your grandfather's research have any information about author Lady Louise Ernestine ( Matthaei ) Howard and her sister Marie Ernestine Matthaei? They lived in the UK in the 1800's, born about 1850's I believe.

Marie is my great grandmother and my mother, who is 88, wants to know more about her. Marie came to Australia by boat, in late 1864 but tragically died 6 weeks after giving birth to my grandfather, not long after arriving here. There has been mention that Marie was born in Germany.

That is all we know except that we have inherited traits from her that reflect more Mediteranean traits. Our other forebears have not been Mediteranean.
