PAULINA GAUL, born June 5, 1850, I believe in Gramenz, Kries Butow, Hinterpommern,was the daughter of Johan Gaul and Wilhemine Fox. She married CARL RADTKE. Carl born approx. 1856, and died about 1883. It is said he served in the Army and died of scarlet fever.

Three children born:
REINHOLD ALBERT, born March 17, 1877,Gersdorf, Germany, according to his obituary.
GUSTAV CARL, August 10, 1880, Gersdorf, Germany. according to his obituary
FERDINAND OTTO, born January 10, 1882, Pommern, according to his obituary.

After Carl died, Pauline and the three boys emigrated to the United States, arriving May 17, 1889. on the Polynesia, from Hamburg, Germany.

The ship manifest contains the following:
Pauline "Rathke" age 38, female, Prussia
Reinhold "Gaul" age 11, male, Prussia
Gustav. "Rathke" age 8, male, Prussia
Ferdinand "Rathke", age 4, male, Prussia

Note: that Reinhold had the last name of Gaul.

To date I have not found out anything about CARL RADTKE, who is my Great grandfather,and would appreciate any piece of information. Thank you. Joan
