Here is what I know about my GG-grandmother's second husband, Joachim Christian "Karl" Nielandt. He was born in Barkow, Mecklenburg on 19 February 1854. His father's name was Johann Friedrich Nielandt. After my GG-grandfather died, Marie (nee Bockholt) Brinckmann maried Christian Karl Nielandt at St. George's Lutheran Church in Parchim, Mecklenburg on 18 October 1978. They had one child Martha Johanna Sophia Nielandt (born in Parchim on 08 July 1881). They arrived in New York on 07 April 1882 along with Marie's other children, my great-grandfather Heinrich Brinckmann, and August Brinckmann and Wilhemine Brinckmann. They lived in New York City until about 1888, then moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Christian Karl Nielandt filed a Declaration of Intent to become a U.S. citizen in Milwaukee on 30 October 1888. He worked as a coachman, teamster, lumber foreman and lumber inspector. He finally became a U.S. citizen in Milwaukee on 29 June 1906. He died in Milwaukee on 03 October 1919 at the age of 65 and was buried at the Union Cemetary. I have only one photograph of Christian Karl Nielandt with Marie Brinckmann-Nielandt, probably from about 1912.
