I failed to mention that in order to trace Elizabeth later in Missouri you need to know that she married Henry Thies after Adolph Stuenkel died. (Her last child Frieda was Henry's daughter.) The passenger list for her 1869 voyage on the Freihandel only lists her home as Hanover with no other family members on the ship and her death certificate lists her birthplace simply as Germany.

Let me know how far back you have traced the Stuenkel family. My records end with Adolph's grandparents Johann Frederick Ludwig Stuenkel and Margaret (or Mary) Katherine Dorothea Mahler back in Metel (amt Neustadt), Germany. Since Betty arrived in NYC on 20 Aug 1869 and married Adolph in Missouri by 1872, she probably knew relatives and/or friends in the Concordia, MO area. There may be some connection back in Germany.
