Diedrick Upmann, born Hanover, Germany, Oct 1823

My ancestor, Diedrick/Deidrich/Diederick Upmann, was born in Hanover Oct 1823. I'm not sure of the correct German spelling of his first name.
He immigrated to America in 1841 and arrived in South Carolina. He eventually settled in Wrightsville, York, Pennsylvania. He married Wilhamina Waag in Pennsylvania; they eventually had 8 children from this marriage.
How can I find his German "roots"?
Thank you!
Glenda Magsam

Looking for more children of Friedrich Gottlieb Heinecke and Dorothea Friederica Helms. Married 1812 in Dannenberg.
So there must be more children born between 1812 and 1820.
Have the ones after 1821 until 1829 born in Elsdorf/Zeven. FG Heinecke was a Policeman, so could have been in Eschede and had children there? Last probably born in 1829 as mother was not young then.

Odds are Hannover meant somewhere in the old Kingdom of Hannover and not the city, so you'll need to know the village or parish he came from. If you know the church he attended in USA, early church records in USA sometimes noted that info, if they have survived.

Diedrich or Dietrich is the German spelling.

Sorry I don't have any more information on your family but it would be neat to have one of your violins.
~Sarah
Hi my name is Anne. Your grandfather William was my grandfather's uncle. My grandfather Charles Gilbert Dissen, was the son of Herman Dissen. My mother's cousin has put together a complete family history. I will try and get in touch with him to see if he has the dates for your greatgrandfather. I know there have been several members of my family who have made the trip to Osnabruck. My aunt Myrtle told me William had ten children. Is this info correct? Could I have some names and dates if you have them?

Mike, if I had it, it would be yours. Unfortunately I don't have info on that Caroline. I do have a Caroline but she lived in USA during 1st half 20th century.

I hope you have the Brunotte info backed up and have several copies. You have invaluable info. I remember many times talking with my g'father Leonhard (born 1883) and asking about what he remembered of his family in Germany unfortunately he didn't remember much in the late 50's. He came to the US in 1889. G'ma and him lived with my parents and me since '44.He lived to be 91. G'ma died in '49.

He did remember receiving letters shortly after WWII from Brunottes in Germany asking for help. Our family sent what they could.

I still think that "Brunotte" info should be on the net for access by Brunotte family. Even if it was password protected and personal info had to be posted and checked to receive the key.

Believe me your tree expanded my family info from g'father and g'uncle with their immediate families to 6 generations back. I greatly appreciate that, thank you.

So glad to see your message posted on this board. I had previously received notification of a message to me on Ancestry and for some reason could not reply to it.

My research on SIEVE was for a friend whose grandparents were August MEYER and Mary SIEVE. I have quite a bit of information on that line and may have done some German research as well. It's put away with some older files and I'll get into it as soon as possible. In the meantime, please feel free to correspond with me directly at AnnBergelt@aol.com and I'll see what I have collected. The names you mentioned seem very familiar.

The SIEVE family I was into is buried at (old) St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Ann Bergelt, Florida

There is a Norm Busing from New Zealand who has an extensive list of Busings/Buesings. That may have been where I saw the name. Try Googling him or look on the Busing/Buesing surname file for some of his messages. Our family is from Oldenburg, near the Wesser River.

Sue

Hi Cathey... My name is Mike Sullivan from St.Louis but now living in Houston. I think I can be of some help. My mother's mother was a Keutzer and in fact the daughter of Emma Hibbeler and Edward S. Keutzer... so Kenneth's grandfather would have been my mom's (Pat Sullivan)Uncle Ed. Ken's father and my mother would be 1st cousins. I don't remember great Uncle Ed, but do remember many siblings, namely my grandmather Mary Amalia Miller; her sister my great aunt Emily Coughlin, her brother my great Uncle Walter Keutzer. There is a great story purportedly written by Emma Hibbeler which I've seen copies of entitled "Our story as my mother told it" about how Emma's mother, (Kenneth's great great grandmother) came to America from Bohemia. I will email you with the details.

His sisters names that I knew for sure were Anna Mary Boeckman who married Johann Bernard Greivenkamp, and Maria Elizabetha Boeckman who married Joseph Heinrich Aschman. I was not sure about Marie Agnes who married Henry Overman but I thought she was a sister also. They all lived in the Cassella, Mercer Co. Ohio area. I would like to correspond with you. Were there only 4 children?
I also have information on John Henry Pohlman and Catherine Hageman. Janet
