How to indicate a birth location in Palatinate

My ancestors came from the Palatinate when it was part of the Kingdom of Bavaria. The villages were Schmitshausen and Hettenhausen. Would you list the birthplace as, for example, Hettenhausen, Pflaz, Bayern?

I was advised that since during the period in question the Palatinate was part of the Kingdom of Bavaria that this is the proper way. My ancestor born in Schmitshausen in 1805 had to on his naturalization papers in the USA in 1834 "renounce allegiance to the King of Bavaria." But I have learned there is disagreement on this subject of how to list the location of these births, the details which are above my pay scale.

So for an ancestor born in Hettenhausen between 1693 and 1800 would it be:

Hettenhausen, Pflaz, Bayern?

For an ancestor born in Schmitshausen between 1800 and 1830 would it be:

Schmitshausen, Pflaz, Bayern?

I am aware that Bavaria and Palatinate are two very different geographical locations now, but during this period what would you do?
