If you click "Kassel" and "Wiesbaden" you will find any place in Hessen-Nassau. Maybe one name looks like Steinfranz.

As soon as you know the exact name of the place of origine I'll try to help you.

Hi Jean,
IkKeep trying to find a place sounding like Steinfranz, but can't find any. So I read a bit about the former Prussian Province of Hessen-Nassau, today part of the Federal States of Hessen and Rheinland-Pfalz. I suggest you put a query on both boards and ask if someone knows where Steinfranz is.

If your ancestor was born in Dresden in 1925 you can ask for her birth record at the Standesamt Dresden. You will have to prove your direct descendancy as that birth record is data protected.

You may connact a Dr. Wolf who researched in Saxony and has Uhlig in his database. One of the places not far from Dresden is Borstendorf where my husband's paternal ancestors came from. I quite often hit the Name UHLIG while researching.

Her name is Sonja Christina Plochocki (née Uhlig), she was born on 23 November 1925. She worked on a farm during the war. Her parents are Max Walter Uhlig and Elsa Erna Uhlig (new Hohne). Max Walter was in world war II . She married Jan (John) Plochocki and had a daughter Kristina Gabrielle Plochocki 18 December 1946. They all emigrated to Australia on the 21 February 1950.

We would appreciate any information that we can get about anyone and where we can go on the Internet to find birth certificates, military service certificate, marriage certificates etc.

Searching for birth locations and names of parents for our ancestors, Caspar Fleck and Rosalia Fretsch Fleck, who immigrated from Weimar, Germany to the U.S. in 1848. Baptismal records of their children born in U.S. indicate Casper Fleck, born Dec 28, 1809, came from Bisenfeld, Saxony Weimer, and died in Ferdinand, Indiana in 1887. His wife, Rosalia Fretsch Fleck, born August 30, 1817, came from Geismar, Saxony, Weimar, Germany and died in Ferdinand, IN, in 1903. Their son, Stephen, was born in 1841 in Germany, location unknown. Asking for someone to assist us in research of these records in Germany, or direction as to where we can find such records. This family was listed on the Warren, Marion, Missouri 1870 census and eventually settled near Guthrie, OK in 1896. Another Beyer family was listed on the passenger list in 1869:
Carl and Emilie and daughter Augusta (ages 43,33, 7). I did not find them on any census records yet.

My Great-grandfather was Charles Frederick Beyer, his brother immigrated in the late 1860's, by the 1870 Grant Wisc. census his brother William or Emil said he was from Saxony. The family moved to Iowa in 1880 and stayed there. Are there a lot of Beyer in Saxony, their parents were Christoph and Emilia Troutman(Trautman) Beyer.

They immigrated to the US in May 1869 and arrived in Baltimore, Maryland on the ship Leipzig that departed from Sachsen. Their son, Albert Eugene Beyer, stated that he was born in Burgstadt, Saxony, Germany. I am researching a family for a project who immigrated to the US on May 24, 1869. They arrived in Baltimore, Maryland on the ship named Leipzig.

The names are:
August William Beyer born in 1832
Emma Agnes Beyer born in 1833
Arno Otto Beyer born in 1862
Albert Eugene Beyer born in 1864
Arthur A. Beyer born in 1867

Their son, Albert, stated in a document that he was born in Burgstadt, Saxony, Germany. I was hoping to find the names of August William Beyer's parents and also the maiden name and parents of his wife, Emma Agnes.

You found my great-grandfather, who was 2 yrs old when they came to America. That part of Thuringa was in Saxony when they were there.

I have corresponded with the archives in Weimar, and was told by them that what I was looking for would be in Saxony. Weimar had limited information available, but did have the applications for removal from the country and placed Johann's departure between February and May of 1851. He was supposed to leave with his wife, but his daughter, Maria, went instead. Susanna went with Karl/Charles in 1852, probably because Hannah Beta Pauline SEIDEL Ebenstein was pregnant at the time & gave birth on the voyage.

Did you note the last name of Karl's wife? She was from Bachra, and had 2 brothers. They were August & Christoph. Their parents were Johann Michael and Anna Dorthea (Schrock) Seidel. Anna was deceased when Karl & Hannah married in 1849. Johann died in 1877. Any relation???

He came to the US and stated Frank Eulitz in St. Louis as destination.

I am searching for any information that will tie down my ancestor, Adam Dexheimer, b.1826, to a specific parish in Darmstadt-Hesse I know he was a shoemaker when he came to Chicago in the 1850's.

Is there such a thing as a Wanderbuch for the Shoemakers Guild?

It is my understanding that Kirchbuchs of the Evangelical churches in Darmstadt are not open through LDS online searches. any help will be most appreciated.

Your post is interesting to me because my Seidel family is from Mittweida, Saxony, where line weaving was prevalent.

I looked up Ebenstein weaving and Mittweida, which brought up:

August William EBENSTEIN
Birth: 6 Jul 1850, Kleine Neuhausen, Thuringa, Germany.

He may not be related but this shows Kleine Neuhausen to be in Thuringa. May be correct, may not.

Wanderbuch for weavers' guild

My g-grandfather and g-g-grandfather were both weavers from Kleineuhousen(I think that's how it's spelled). Does anyone know where the guild records & wanderbuchs may be kept - provided they still exist?

Johann Gottfried Ebenstein (b. aprox 1795, imm. USA 1851); master linen weaver

FYI - a wanderbuch was a book kept by an apprentice during his 'wanderings' as an apprentice. My information is that they were turned in to the guild at the completion of the apprentice period.

You did not make clear you were American! Suggest you google up "Zones of Occupation Germany" and then you will see that the American zone ran right down to the south to the border with Austria, covering all of Bavaria. South of Munich it is the same range of mountains as in Austria so it is more than likely this was taken in one of the alpine villages in Germany in the mountains south of Munich. Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the Zugspitze area, highest peak in Germany, 3000m, were particularly popular with American troops on leave. Obviously taken in summer, person on grass in light clothing, so I think it would be June-August 1945. Google a map of the area and you will find plenty of similar landscapes. Could be Austria but my best guess now would be Bavaria.

Sorry for the late reply. That does help some. My grandfather was American and served till 1945. There's no Markings on the back or nothing in the picture to say where it was taken. I just assumed it was in Germany. I'll try the Austria board. Thanks a bunch.

I am looking for information on Franz (Frank) Hermann Eulitz. I wanted to confirm what town in Saxony he was from and his parents. I am trying to locate his birth record and documents from Germany and don't know the best way to get these. He was born April 6 1864 in Leuben(?) according to my grandfather wherever his family was from it was just outside of Berlin. His father was Traugott Wilhelm. Franz came over when he was 16 alone and lived in MO, IL. Any help would be appreciated!

as the family is already listed in the 1870 census and all children´s pob is NY ( The eldest, Alice, is 14 yrs in 1870) If she is not Henry´s daughter, his year of immigration should be between 1856 and 1863, as Eliza was born abt 1864.
BTW: On the same page of the 1870 census Henry Steinway is listed!! Estimated value of Real Estate $ 700,000.

Maybe exact dob is Feb 26, 1833, as there is a passport application (1888) for a Henry G Rudiger ( G for Gottlob ) at ancestry´s unfortunately stating birthplace as Germany.

Hello, Everyone My 3rd grandfather Henry G Rudiger DOB About 1833 born in Saxony Germany and emigrated to the USA sometime between 1860 - 1880. This is all that I know of Henry and his life in germany and I would like to find out more information.

When he came to the USA Henry Married Harriet Hulton and had 5 children. Henry Built Baby Grand Pianos in Brooklyn, NY. Also one of Henry's son's Frederick was also a Piano Tuner and also managed an Opera Star from Germany.

Looking for information on the family of Frederick or Ferdinand Hesse and his wife, Christiane Concord Hausdorfer. They married around 1820. Supposedly they had three sons who migrated to the U.S. around 1865. A probate record I found for minor daughters of son Ernst Theodore Hesse, my great grandfather, in New Haven,CT, mentions the estate of F. F. Hesse in Annaberg, Germany. In the 1870 U.S Census for New York, Ernst is listed as from Saxony, Germany. His marriage record in 1867 in New York gives his parents names; father's first name illegible and mother's full name: Christiane Concord Hausdorfer. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

My great great grandparents Christopher (b. 1861 approx) and Dorathan (b. 1863 approx)Diebel emigrated from Germany in the early 1880's. I have managed to narrow down the date of their emigration to between 1881-1884. On subsequent censuses they are recorded as being from Leipzig. They had several children in the UK: Lena/Lil, Mary Elizabeth Louisa, Christopher, Dora, Lissette, Charles Henry, Henry John, Alfred Bernard, Lily Louisa, Edward and Daisy Matilda. If anyone has more information, maybe as to Christopher and Dorathan's families in Germany, please get in touch!

Carl Otto Leberecht Maetzold born 03/04/1860 at Hochenstein, died 1932 at Chemnitz. He is/was my Great-Grandfather on my Mother's side of the family.

I also need any information on Carl Steinhaus and Christina Franz both from Germany, they are John's parents. There is a sister involved but I have no name.
