Hi Melissa,

I coincidently came across a letter today from the 1980s from a Bob Bahnsen in South Australia. He had written a book "Tall Ships and 10 Horse teams" the story of his Danish ancestor who had deserted his ship very last century along with another Scandinavian and a third (non Scandinavian) person whom he was trying to identify and trace for his story. The details escape me now but the book was in State Libraries and had many useful references listed for anyone doing such research in Australiafor unaccounted for family members. Many in Aus. had been to the U.S. first, maybe with other family members who preferred to stay there. Bahnsen seems to me to be a rather uncommon Danish name unlike those in my own family tree which included Frandsen, Nielsen along with Hansen. I may have posted some years ago on another Bahnsen (or is it the same) topice but could not find it from a quick search for Bahnsen +Australia. Good luck anyway.
