Not sure if this is what you're looking for but I found this on someone's page:

Obituary-Chilton Times Feb 11, 1905
"Hans Sonnabend, an old resident of this village who had lived alone for several years, was found dead at his home Monday morning. He was last seen alive on Friday. Dr. Luehrs was called and after making an examintion stated that he had been dead two or three days. The body was on the floor near the stove with the head resting on a chair, and it is presumed that he expired while making a fire in the stove. Mr. Sonnabend was between 83 and 84 years old and has lived alone for the past 20 years, making a meager living by peddling and trading. He was buried Thursday afternoon in Kleist cemetery.

One of Hans children, John, went to homestead in Nebraska where his wife died. John brought his two young children back to Wisconsin to be raised by their grandmother."

In 1900, he was living in Rantoul, Calument County, Michigan. He was living alone.
