I don't think-- if he was widowed-- that they married prior to arrival. I'm not sure of anything really on this side of my family. It's like they didn't want to be found. Yesterday I went through every ship into NY from 1961-1864 and found nothing. Of course it could have been lost or destroyed or unavailable. I'm guessing he and the kids came over and then he met Anna over here. She is referenced as saying she arrived in 1866. I really should renew my Ancestry, but there is so little new I find it not worth it.
I think Anna and Emma (twins) were also prior to arrival-- but may not have been Johan and Anna.
I appreciate your reply and assistance a great deal.
