Dear Olga,
Where are your ancestors from? My husband's father's sister Julia Paull (Pal) married Anton Dudas. All were born in Makkosjanosi, Bereg Megye now the Ukraine. She is listed on the Ellis Island web site as having arrived in 1906 with her brother Sandor Pal. I have their records from the National Archives. I am sure Anton Dudas also arrived the same year because a family member gave me the information. The Ellis Island website has him listed for a different year and I am sure it is incorrect. They married in Perth Amboy, N. J.in 1910 and moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1913.
Our Trenton, NJ State Archives also was of great help. I found out that Anton Dudas's mother's maiden name was Catherine Halavacs, also from Makkosjanosi.
I have researched the Dudas name on the Ellis Island site and see that there is a connection to the Juhasz family also from Makkosjanosi. There is someone with the last name of Dudas from Makkosjanosi going to an uncle, Laszlo Juhasz. Another family from there is Marosi or Marosy.
I decided to go to my Immigrant Arrival Records from the National Archives. Szidor Veron, age 24, arrived on the same ship with my husband's other Aunt, Irma Pal from Makkosjanosi, Feb. 24, 1913. The ship was the Prinz Franz Wilhelm leaving from Bremen. Szidor Veron left behind her father Dudas Janos in Makkosjanosi. She came to our city of Perth Amboy, N. J. as did my husband's Aunt Irma Pal both to the same address, Catherine Street to her brother Dudas Antal.
All the names you mention are familiar. I would like to hear from you.
Regards, Margaret Paull, NJ
