Kinga has given some good advice. Here is some more.

www.sggee.org is working with the Lutheran Parish in Lublin to extract all their available records which are NOT in Polish Archives. This is still a work in progress but is probably approaching 3/4 completion and the results are found at http://www.sggee.org/research/parishes/lublin_records/lublin...

It starts c.1850 so it may only be useful for finding any family threads that remained there after yours left.
