Good evening! I noticed your reply to someone in 2005. I am looking for some information on Gross Schmoellen as my wife's great grandmother left there in 1861 for Victoria, Australia, when she was 16. Her name was Johanna Dorothea Gross. Her father was Johann Samuel Gross and her mother Maria Elisabeth Gogel.I just need a few sentences about the old village and what it was like in the 1860s and why she might have left. I can't find any passenger list with her name but we do have the Prussian Emigration records with her name and her marriage certificate in Australia to Peter Dietrich who left his village of Gampelen in Switzerland the same year.
