Hello Linda,
I'm researching Lipnica Gorna (Upper Lipnica). I'm also researching Central Illinois. My grandfather came to the USA in 1906. His three brothers before him in about 1903. They settled in Lincoln, IL and were all coal miners. My
grandfather moved his family to Chicago sometime in the 1920s. The others stayed in Lincoln.
This is what I know about the Lipnica I'm researching. It was originally in Poland, but after invasions by others it became a part of Galacia which was under Austrian rule. It is southeast of Krakow. I guess in American terminology, it is in the "county" of Bochnia. There is also a city called Bochnia. Other cities nearby are Tarnow and Nowy Sacz. Do you think we are researching the same village? If we are, I'm anxious to communicate with you.
Thank you,
Carol
