Ok- I have a small book my great aunt wrote back in 1991. She states that her mother, Mary Verba, came to America via the ship Barbaroosa, leaving Spetmember 1912. Mary's father was named John, and had come to the US in 1910 with some of the "uncles". He was a coal miner.

Mary Verba was born in 1893 in a "small town near Prague." She had two sisters, Ann and Elizabeth. One brother named John as well. They all settled in a small town in Athens County Ohio called Goose Run. The father, John Verba, was staying with distant relatives named Verba.
on January 9, 1913 Mary Verba married George Fearns, who was also from Czechoslovakia. They were married in the Catholic Church in Murray City, Ohio.

George Fearns parents had seven children. His father passed away at the age of 39, so his mother remarried a man named Carroll. They had one child, Minnie Carroll.

George Fearns siblings were Anna, Mary(who married John Vasko), John, mike, and Steve.

I am actually looking to see if our family had any Jewish lineage, but looking at the history, it seems to be Catholic, then Methodist here in the States.

I hope to scan the book and upload it in the near future.

Cheers,
Molly Schneider
