I am currently researching my great-grandparents who were born in the kingdom of Hungary in the late 19th century. The areas where they lived are now in Slovakia.
After I finish with the microfilm I am researching at the LDS Family Search Center, I am going to order Film 1183541 Item 4/Fiche #6000786, the survey of parish registers in Slovakia up to the time of civil registration, since I have seen this film mentioned in this forum several times. I am trying to locate the parish register for the town where my great-grandmother was born. LDS has civil registration for the town after 1895, but I wanted to see if any parish registers existed before that.
I have a few questions for anyone who has looked at this film:
1. I do not know any of the Slovak language. How much difficulty will I have reading this?
2. Are the towns listed in Slovak only, or in Hungarian as well?
3. Does the survey indicate if the people of a certain town changed churches (i.e., if the town changed parishes?)
Please reply if you have any answers for these questions, or if you have any other helpful tips.
Thanks!
Mike
