My investigation of Europe finds that common names are from common cities and towns. Accordingly, my great-grandmother, Mary Fedor was born in Tulcik, Czechoslovakia in 1863. The Fedors came to america and first settled in Pennsylvania around Pittsburg and then came to Gary, Indiana by 1920 with the opening of the mills in Gary. In 1863, Tulcik was in Hungary. In 1917 Czechoslovakia was established again. Yes, they are all Slovaks.
