My maternal grandfather, Ilija Lero, came to the U.S. in 1912 from Cepelica, Herzegovina. He was 25 years old. My maternal grandmother, Marica Derknonich, came in 1923 from Sarajevo. They married in Chicago. My mother was an only child. They both were the only members of their respective families that immigrated to the U.S.
I would love to learn about my mother's family so I can pass it on to my three children.
