Hi everyone,

I'm currently trying to find any information on my great grandfather. His name was Thomas Charalambous or Charalambou and lived in the town of Platanistasa, Lefkosia, Cyprus. According to family knowledge he was in his 80s or early 90s when he died sometime between 1956-1959. His wife Maria, was said to have died young sometime in the 1930s, in her early 50s. It is believed her surname was Papageorgiou.

On one particular land record, which he transferred to one of his son's in 1948, his name was noted as Thomas Hadjicharalambous. The prefix Hadji would indicate that at some point he undertook the Christian pilgrimage to Palestine at one stage. From his surname it would appear that Thomas's father was Haralambous or Haralambos.

If anyone knows of any records or how these records can be obtained, please message me back. It would be great to get some accurate information on this family.

I do know that all Thomas's children ended up with his first name, Thomas or Hadjithomas as their surnames. Apparently in the town of Platanistasa, they were known as the Hamboulies.
