I'm very new to this web site, so I'm not exactly sure how it works. However, I'm having difficulty finding a geneaology web site online that does not charge anything to search for documents.

I don't know much of my history, but it is certain that some of my family came from Romania probably in the late 1800s. The surname is Agatstein, but the name was probably changed when it came to New York (through Ellis Island, most probably). I'm not expecting a miracle, but if anyone is familiar with this name, it will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
