Updated information on Gornik research: discovered that my grandfather's (John Gornik, b. May 16, 1872 in the village of Jelovec, near Globelje, Slovenia; d. May 14, 1946, Lorain, Ohio; m. Johanna Novak August 15, 1905 at St. Vitus Church, Cleveland, Ohio) parents names might be: father - Blaz Gornik (with the accent over the 'z'); mother - Neza Gornik, roj. Vesel, b. abt. 1839.
Believe there was a boy-cousin named Thomas Vesel. Another researcher has a grandmother named Frances Vesel Levstik of Kankakee, IL, who had a brother named Thomas Vesel. Could be the same person...
Believe there was a brother named Kveril, and a brother named Ceril (two different handwritings).
Believe John Gornik's first cousin was Valentin Gornik, also of Cleveland, Ohio (b. 1865 in Globelje). Valentin married Marjeta Levstik (1865-1955). Children include Rose Gornik Brezec (1894 - ????); Rudolf (1895 - 1972); Frank (1896 - ????); Anton (1904 - 1948); Mary Gornik Kocjancic; Angela (1899 - 1899). Cannot connect him and his family to my tree until I know how his parents are related to my grandfather.
ANY information about any of these families would be greatly appreciated. Will share everything I have. Lots of photos, undated and unidentified. Thanks.
