Hello Tom, nice to hear you! From where are you?
The family Mihelič had as usual in the villages in Slovenia (not Croatia) the nickname, Mentani pod Lipo = Mentani under line. Vinica from were are your and mine roots lies in Slovenia.
Ive (Johan) Mihelič (1. 4. 1804 – 14. 1. 1878) and Jožefa (Josefa) Kastelic (19. 3. 1808 – 4. 4. 1874) had ten children:
― Ana was a second wife of Matija Malič (1809 – 1850), nickname of the house and the family was Kramar. His first wife was Marija Malič (1813 – 1850).
― Barbara (1828 – 1897) married to Franc Malič
― Magda married to Mišič
― Ive (21. 7.1839 – 29. 1. 1921) married to Katarina Malič: they had four children, two of them removed in USA. The grandson of Ive and Katarina wrote a book where is the family tree (my source of information).
― Jozefa married to Jurič
― Matija, nickname of the house and the family Mentani v rebri = Mentani in the slope or hill
― Margareta married to Prokšelj
― Johana – she was married in Croatia
― Antonija married to Culiberg
― Jelka married to Karin
You can see that three of the children were married to persons of Malič family. It is very complicated to unknot all relations. You get me names of Johann Mihelič and Maria Malnarič, perhaps I could find Johan in parish register and his parents (when I will have time).
