I am looking for my wife's grandfather's family. His surname at the time he came to Australia was Horbatschiw, but he went via Germany and it seems in Russia his surname may have been Gorbaczew/Gorbachev.
They lived in Yekaterinoslaw for some time around 1914 (the time and place of my wife's grandfather's birth).
Some other family details:
His mother Lydia Gorbachev (etc?) was a lecturer, potentially at L'viv University (Ivano Franko).
His father Konstantin Gorbachev died between 1924 and 1948. I know that's a big time, just have no idea on the specifics. He was part of the 133rd Simferopol Regiment.
His brother Leo Konstantinovich Gorbachev was born around 1924 - not sure if they were still living there.
His sister Irene Gorbachev may also have been born here
