Alexander Semenovich GUMBERG was a family friend of my Elizavetgrad ancestors. He was b. 26 June 1886, Elizavetgrad to a rabbi. Immigrated to US 1903; married Emma Frances “Frankie” ADAMS (b. 1893, CA), 27 May 1919. She died in 1969, using her maiden name of ADAMS. Alex became a famous guy, and some historians demonstrate, a spy for the Soviets.

He had a brother Zhenya GUMBERG

His oldest Brother was Capt. Veniamin GUMBERG (b. bef. 1886) Menshevik revolutionary anticommunist, sent to work camp 1930.

His youngest bro: Sergei “Zarin” GUMBERG – Bolshevik. postal minister.

I'd love to see you GOMBERG photos, which may match some of my unidentified Elizavetgrad photos.
