I am researching the Brussell family that settled in Los Angeles CA in late 1920s or early 30s. Max and Louis Brussell, who I think their father was Abraham and mother Minnie. One granddaughter states she thinks their last name was Bresnikoff or possibly Breshnivoski. They were from Zlatopol near Kiev. Minnie. Louis was born in 1886 and died in 1958, Wife was Miriam who died in 1922 in Russia. One of their daughters, Haika, was murdered during the pogroms because she could not get her gold ring off her hand fast enough for them. Another daughter Ida who died in 1918, their son Morris, and daughters Ann and Betty came over and died between 1993-2004. Max I just learned about through Louis's obit and had not knowledge of him before. He married Celia Kline and had a daughter named Doris who I learned died in 2008. Celia and Dorris is found in the 1930 census in Massachusetts, not sure where Max was? I am thinking that the family came over around 1923. Story goes that Louis's son Morris left home at age 13, alone, and went first to Canada. But I have not been able to prove this or find any record of this. Odd since both his father and brother came over, so not sure how reliable the story is. Hope you still check this thread, it is rather a long time ago. I can be reached at rthoadley@juno.com. Thank you, Robert
