BOARDMAN, OH – Ilko Riwniak, 90, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, July 4, 2013, at St. Mary Alzheimer Center in Columbiana, Ohio.
Ilko was born Jan. 31, 1923, in Sambir, Ukraine, the son of the late Michael and Catherine Hololiak Riwniak, and came to America via Germany and France in 1956.
Ilko worked for 28 years for Falcon Foundry in Lowellville, Ohio retiring in 1985.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Youngstown, Ohio.
He leaves his beloved wife of 67 years, Eva Palenyczka Riwniak, whom he married Nov. 18, 1945; five children, Anna (Thomas) Donegan of Poland, Ohio, Michael Riwniak of Austintown, Ohio, Christine (Alexander) Rucinski of Macomb, Mich., Irene (Carl) Price of Columbus, Ohio, and Stephen (Lorie) Riwniak of Boardman; a daughter-in-law, Patty Riwniak of Boardman; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Ilko was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Family and friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., on Monday, July 8, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown.
Funeral services will begin on Monday at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home, and continue at 1 p.m. at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church on West Rayen Avenue.
A committal service will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
Ilko’s family thanks the staff of St. Mary Alzheimer Center for the kindness shown and care given during Mr. Riwniak’s time there, and also thank the staff of Hospice of the Valley for the help, care, and kindness given to Ilko and his family.
