Henry Anton Swanson and his family

In 1913 my grandfather's aunt Sara Kristina, born 19 February 1867, and her daughter Anna Maria Katarina (b. 12 April 1911) left Ström parish in Jämtland, Sweden to join their husband and father Henrik Anton Svensson (b. 28 July 1879) in Canada. There he was known as Henry Anton Swanson and the owner of land in W4-5-60-23. Which I have been told is near Bonnyville .

Thanks to kind help from AGS I know that Henry Anton died 31 August 1946 at Bonnyville and is buried at St. John's United Church Cemetery. But I know nothing about his family's fate.

I hope for ideas on how to find out more. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Maud

Albert TURNEY in Elk Point 1947

Hello,
I'm not sure if this is the right board for Elk Point but seems to be close on the map. My grandmother's brother Albert born Colborne, Ontario 1878 wrote a letter from Elk Point in 1947. Mentions his surviving children as a son Bob, a daughter Mildred and son Art. Mildred is married with 4 children lives 9 miles away in Spring Port or Spring Point.
Anyone out there know where that is or was? I can't find it on today's map. Also does anyone know who Mildred TURNEY married? She was likely born abt 1913 or later.
History book on Elk Point mentions TURNEY's helping build a Community Hall at Long Lake abt 1936 - I suspect this is Albert and maybe his son Bob who also lived there at that time. Albert mentions he himself as being a carpenter. Bob I believe moves to BC abt 1950.
I think Albert TURNEY and his wife Mary likely died in Elk Point. Anyone having any information on them would be much appreciated if you would share it with me. You can email me directly if preferred marygirl16@hotmail.com - Thanks Mary
I have gotten some information that says that I had a uncle who worked in St. Paul at the hotel there and his name was George. I lived in BOnnyville when I was a child up until my dad Lawrence Boudreau was killed. His family is who I am trying to research and I am having no luck. He grew up in Camrose and had no living brothers or sisters that I know of. Any information would be helpful. Thanks.

GREGOIRE MENARD

My grandparents, JEAN-BAPTISTE GREGOIRE & AMANDA MENARD were married in Dollard, Sask in 1929. They moved to Bonnyville, Alta and had a son there in Oct 1930. In Oct 1931, another son was born at Iron River, then in Nov 1932, a daughter was born at Iron River. In the Fall of 1933, Amanda "abandoned her family and headed east on the train". Jean-Baptiste took the children to Manitoba where they were raised by his relatives. He must have returned to Iron River or Bonnyville after placing the children......Can anyone add to this story (or perhaps dispute it)? Info on living conditions and economic conditions there at that time would also be helpful........e-mail : gunning@escape.ca Thank you!

He married Yvonne Mercier in Berlin, NH and they had one son; Donald (my dad) born 5/11/34.
Looking for any siblings or descendants of this line.

Thanks...CD

I am searching for my grandfather's family. It has been difficult to find any information at this point. We just found an old document sent to my grandfather many years ago asking about his father Henry O. LARSON who died 1915 at Burnt Lake. We have found Burnt Lake on the map and know that it is in Alberta. Legend has it that he was found half eaten by wolves at his cabin in Canada. This is our first lead as to the location and name. If there is anyone
that could even tell me how to acquire additional information it would be very much appreciated. This has been a long struggle but we now have a welcome break. We thank you in advance.

DuBeau Information

I am searching for information on Jack E. DuBeau. According to U.S.Army discharge papers, he was born January 22, 1905 in Detroit, Michigan. He had a mailing address in Ontario, Canada, and also had a wife and daughter there. He is described: brown hair, blue eyes, 5'3" tall, weight-123 lbs., bricklayer. It is possible that he had a twin brother. He died in 1968, and his Canadian wife(ex-wife?) and daughter came to the funeral in Maryland, USA. He married in the USA, around 1945, and had four children. He never spoke of any family, but took trips to visit Canada. He was my daughter-in-law's grandfather. Since both her father and grandfather have passed away, she is hoping to find family information through this source.

Margaret DELANEY MARTINEAU & HAZEL MARTINEAU WHEELERFAMILIES

A recent article in the Lloydminster Meridian Booster (5 July 2000) leads me to believe there may be a distant connection between my family and the DELANEY, MARTINEAU, WHEELER families. My ggrandmother was Catherine DELANEY HARRISON, sister to John DELANEY who died at Frog Lake in 1885. The article indicates that John had a daughter , but does not mention the mothers name. The daughter Margaret (Maggie) was born in November 1885, after his death and lived in Onion Lake, married Adrian MARTINEAU and they lived there as well as Cold Lake Post, LeGoff Reserve. I believe these must be near present day Bonnyville or St. Paul counties. He worked for Hudson Bay. They had 17 children (13 biological and 4 adopted). Mentioned in the article is Hazel MARTINEAU WHEELER. I would very much like to connect with any descendents and trade family information. Thank you for any help. alexsandra

I am looking for information about Myron James Higbee and his descendants. What little I know is that Mr. Higbee lived with his wife in what was formerly known as the "Ferguson Flats, Alberta" (southeast of Bonneyville, AB. and northeast of Elk Point, AB). It is believed that Mr. Higbee went off to fight in WWI leaving his land in the care of his father, Luko Higbee. It is not known if Mr. Higbee was in the Canadian armed forces or served another country (possible the U.S.A.). Mr. Higbee is presumed to have died during WWI. Mr. Higbee's widow later remarried and moved from the area. Mr. Higbee may have had two children.

Please contact me via e-mail (sclee@howardmackie.com), collect at (403) 232-9621 or at 1000, 400 - 3rd Avenue S.W.
