Again, I am appealing to anyone who might have information about my family. Dad's name was Laurence, his dad was Joseph, and his dad's dad was Francois. Francois homesteaded in Frog Lake Sask, and then moved to Alberta. He had a brother Pierre and I believe another one called George ?. Joseph was married to Veronique Labournaise (Laboucane) and they had three children.
Any body out there????

I would like to find out where this family settled after arriving in America in 1868. Before they and 3 sons, Erick, Knud and Albert moved to this county they were living in Big Stone County, Minnesota; however, have not found them in the 1870 and 1880 censuses. My great grandfather, Simen Olsen (all of these folks from Gausdel Parish, Oppland County, Norway) was traveling with them and family history states that Simen died shortly after arriving and is buried near Northfield. There is both a Northfield, Minnesota and a Northfield, Wisconsin so don't know which place. Just possibly it was where this family was living in 1870. Does anybody have any information about the Lysengs. Their names on the passenger list was Knud Ingebretsen Halvorslien and Marit Eriksdatter (where did the name Lyseng come from, I don't know. Or maybe Simen did not follow them after arriving in America - who knows. Thank you.
Marcia Johnson
from Minnesota

Seeking MILLER, MORTENSON, and MAYER descendants

I am seeking to make contact with relatives who lived in the Camrose city and vicinity. Benjamin and Betsey Olson, their sons Carl and Emmanuel, and daughters Selma and Otilda, moved from Kansas to Duhamel, Alberta in 1898. Soon after that time Benjamin, Carl, Emmanuel and son-in- law Olaf Swanson (he married Selma) took out 160 acre Land Grants in the Dried Meat Lake area. I believe their address was "Heather Brae." Otilda married August Miller and I believe she died quite young. I do not know if they had children. I believe Carl and Emmanuel never married.

Olaf and Selma had three daughters, Irene, Myrtle, and Estelle. I do not know if Irene married. Myrtle married Ralph Mayer and I believe they had children, and Estelle married Harold Mortenson and I believe they had children. When Selma died in 1956 her obituary said she left 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

The obituaries of Selma, and Carl said they were living in Camrose when they passed. I would sure like to find out more about the lives of my relatives in Alberta and hopefully be able to correspond with some of their living relatives. I have information on their ancestors back many generations. Help will be greatly appreciated. Bill Olson

He is buried in the Smith family plot next to Grace Alice Smith Holmes and below Fred Albert Smith, his grave stone marked "Grandson". Fred Albert Smith was the son of Grace Alice Leforgee and Dallas Smith, Holmes was a second marriage. I am looking for the name of Kenneth George Mikasko's mother and father. Is he related to George Mikasko listed among the Veterans of World War 2 at Kingman? I have noticed Mikasko seems to be a name historically from Round Hill Alberta. Dallas Smith was my Great Uncle...he died in 1960 and is buried in Genessee Alberta ...my side of the family lost track of Dallas and his descendants years ago. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Hi There. I'm new to this mailing list and I'm hoping that someone can help me. I'm trying to locate information or descendants of Jack Bert Crouter. He married Alma Kellerman here in Ontario, Canada in the late 1930's. They had one daughter, Sandra Jacqueline Crouter. He left the family around 1944-45 and moved somewhere near Edmonton, Alberta. He remarried out west and had 5 or 6 kids. I think he named his first daughter Sandra also. Jack lived in Belleville, Ontario before he moved out west. The only other thing I know about him is that his brother's name was Ray. I don't know if he had any other brothers or sisters. I know that Jack is desceased now but I don't know where he is buried.

I'd like to find his gravesite and family. Sandra Jacqueline Crouter is my mother and we would like to find her half-brothers and sisters.

Thank You in advance for your help.

Darryl Taylor - Toronto, Ontario Canada

The only information we have is a court paper for administration of Ole Nordgaard's estate about 1956/57. Apparently Ole was living in Bethany Sunset Home, Camrose, and may have died there. The house was owned by Anna AKER until the early 1970's. She purchased the house from Albert ZEMLIKA, probably in the 1950s. Currently, I'm undertaking a land titles search for the previous owners. If anyone has any information regarding the previous owners or the property, please email me directly.
Looking for any information on Alexander Gray Neill and his family. Alexander was born 7 July 1856 in Mill of Torr(Kincardine Parish), Perthshire, Scotland. Immigrated to Wisconsin, USA in 1859 with his parents (John Neill and Margaret Moreland). Married an Elizabeth I. ? between 1880 and 1886, possibly in Wisconsin?. Immigrated to Canada in 1898. By 1901 (based on Census of Canada) was living in Wetaskiwin Township. Had at least 4 children: Robert M. {1886, USA}; Hugh M. {1887, USA}; Joseph D. {1896, USA}; and Alberta M. (girl) {1899, Alberta}. Based on an 1922 obituary for his brother, John (from Wisconsin), Alex was living in Camrose, Alberta. I have some information that indicates that his daughter, Alberta I think, was married to a Ray Sawyer(s), but do not know where they lived. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Working on Roberts family genealogy and hope to hear from descendents. They have four daughters: Violet, Florence, Amy, and Mena. Walter raised and sold sheep until retiring and moving to Camrose.

I am searching for my relatives who resided in Sedgewick, Alberta in 1925 the year my father Oscar Theodore Arneson was born with his two sisters Helen and Norma which followed him. His parents names I believe were Apollonia (Polly) Hansen and Andreas Arneson. Andreas passed away approx. 1932 and Polly remarried a Bourgeois and last known address was Vancouver, BC. They had a son named Allen. If you know anything about these people please contact me as I have no relatives that I have ever met. My father had a disagreement with his mother approx. 1946 in Vancouver and left the province and never contacted her again. I only found out this info. recently before my father passed away and I am eager to meet a relative of my fathers. Someone out there must know these people.
Barb
I'm looking for any information on Herman Schoenteich. I know he is mentioned in "As the Wheels Turn" and lived somewhere in Camrose working as a blacksmith. He came from Gerswalde, Germany after spending a brief time in Detroit Lakes,MN. with his sister, Bertha Schoenteich. I don't know what years Canada took a census, but think 1890 or 1900 might just find him. Would like to know who his wife and family were. Also when he may have arrived in Camrose.
Thanks, Bonnie Baetz

Looking for descendants of Karl Peter Hamilton and Laurina Margreta Hammarton Flygare

I have been researching the above mentioned surnames and have quite a bit of information so far, and am willing to share or exchange info with any "cousins" who may be interested. I am descended from Andrew and Matilda, through my grandfather Carl August Hammerberg, but would love to get in touch with cousins descended from Andrew's brother Peter or their sister Laurina Margreta.

Eric Andreas Hammarton (name changed to Andrew Hammarberg) and his wife Katrina Matilda Nilsson (known as Matilda) came to Canada from Sweden in 1907 with their two children. They
settled west of Donalda.

Matilda's sister Hulda Karolina Nilsson came to Canada with them. Hulda married Andrew's brother who was already living in the Duhammel/New Norway district. He was Karl Peter Hammarton (name changed to Hamilton): he came to the US with his first wife Marta (name changed to Myrtle; she died in 1906)in about 1894 and to the Duhamel district, Alberta Canada in 1897. Peter and Hulda had 4 children: Marie Helena Hamilton, Martha Christina Hamilton, Carl Anton Hamilton, and Bror Helge Hamilton.

Hulda died about 1914/1917 of childbirth, and Peter moved to Port Hammond, BC where he died in 1925.

Laurina Margreta Hammarton, who was the sister of Peter and Andrew, died in Sweden shortly after her husband Johan Jakob Johansson Flygare. Their 4 surviving children eventually came to Canada (Frida Johanna Flygar born 02 February 1885 (married Dr. P.A. MacDonald) , Olga Margreta Flygar born 06 April 1886 {I have been in touch with Olga's daughter}, Johan Konrad Flygar (known as Conrad) was born on 28 May 1888 , and Jernis Erenus Flygar born 05 April 1894). The two boys apparently changed their last names to Johnson. I would also love to be in touch with their descendants

I am searching for info on George Ruff from Bashaw. He and his wife owned some sort of store there. His wifes name was Theresa. I have a birth registration for their daughter Maria Magdelene Ruff born Jan 20 1937. His wife is burried in the cemetery in Bashaw beside their daughter Vera. Vera died as a baby and Theresa died within a few days of the baby. They also had another daughter whos name was I think Angela. After Theresa's death Marie was put in a hospital for the mentally ill ( Ponoka I think). George went down hill steadily and was eventually put in the hospital as well. Angela is now living in BC. Does anyone know anything of this family? Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks

McNULTY – Seeking the descendants of Patrick and Margaret McNULTY. Patrick, a former hotel man from Valley City, ND, had been living at Edberg, ALTA. He was killed instantly on 19 Feb. 1912 returning from town, when his horse suddenly bolted and threw him onto the frozen ground. He was survived by his wife, Margaret, son James Desmond and two daughters, Annie and Mary (Mayme or Mamie). Margaret and family moved to Edmonton. James joined the Canadian Field Artillery and was killed at Falkstone, England, 25 May 1917 during a German bombing raid. He is buried in Shorncliffe Military Cemetery, Kent, England. Margaret married Darby O’MALLEY 4 Feb. 1924 at Portland, OR. She died 17 Sept. 1934 in Valley City, ND. Her obituary states she was survived by her husband Darby O’MALLEY; one daughter, Annie, married and living in Edmonton; the other daughter, Mary, living in Valley City, ND and a brother, Patrick J. COLEMAN, of Minneapolis. Anyone have knowledge of this family?

Looking for info on Francis("Frank")Charles Papineau

I'm in the midst of researching my Papineau family tree and have had some success, but these Papineau's lived in the same area of Alberta as my direct line but had no contact I believe after 1920-25.
I am looking for anything or anyone that could help me find my gr uncle Francis C. Papineau's descendants of today, as well as info for my family file.
This is what I know of them so far:
Francis C. Papineau mar. Emma Alice Keast (Ontario, Can./or Moline, Illinois, US), then moved from Moline, Illinois to Battle Lake in 1902. Upon getting there Francis ran a saw/logging mill from Battle Lake, they built a church (which is apparently still visible from the Highway, and Frank had been appointed foreman of building the first highway from Camrose to Ma-Me-O Beach.
They had been friends to the indian tribe living in the area of the time and had let them use their land for burials and ceremonies, etc. They had 7 children of which I know of 5 - George, Betty, Dennis, Keast & Dawn. It was said that Keast & Betty had settled and stayed in the area of Camrose.
Francis died in 1942 & Emma Alice died in 1958 and they are to be buried in the Camrose Cemetary.
If anyone has knowledge or info in regards to these Papineau's please contact me personally at the email addy provided.
Thanks in advance.
Shelley Giles

Iam researching my family's history in the camrose/round hill area around the turn of the century up to about 1918.
Some of their names are:Francizek and Elizabeth Mach,
Joseph Mach; Vincent (Wilfred)Mach; Louis Mach. The name was sometimes spelled Mack; they were instrumental in building St. Stanislaus Church at Round Hill. Any information about them would be very helpful as I am writing a book about my family's farm history.
