Marriage Record Sherratt/Brindley

Both of my grandparents Leonard SHERRATT and Dora MANSELL arrived in Blairmore around 1910.

My grandfathers sister, Nellie (Manley) SHERRATT and brother Owen SHERRATT arrived in 1908. Nellie came over from England to follow her future husband Oscar BRINDLEY. The 1911 Census has them married, however, Nellie immigrated single in 1910. I am trying to find their marriage record. Since I don't have a date, or a specfic location it could get very costly to do a search from Ontario.

Is there anyone able to do a search at a library in the area?

Nellie was born a Manley (Mother's surname) but immigrated under her family name of Sherratt. Born 1889 Audley, Staffordshire. Immigrated 1910.

Oscar Brindley was born 1883 Audley, Staffordshire. Immigrated 1907.

The Sherratts were all coal miners in Blairmore, Coleman, Lille, Pincher Creek. As were the Mansells.

Oscar Brindley was also a coal miner however some records indicate he was a photographer. Apparently he lost a leg, on the train between Fernie and Lille.

Both Oscar and Nellie are laid to rest in British Columbia.

Thanks very much
Wendy Sherratt Hogan
The family came to Canada in 1905 from England. Would like to know how long they stayed in Hillcrest. Wondering if Ralph got married and had a family.
Also, is there a place where I can get a list of families that lived in Hillcrest and Bellevue between 1911 - 1920.

I can not find the Davison family on the 1911 census. We know they lived in Springhill. N.S. when they arrived in Canada 1904. John Davison was one of the miners that died in the in 1914 explosion. They have his name down as John Davidson, should be Davison.

Patricia

They are still there when I find John and sons Charles & Frank enlisted in Hillcrest in 1916. One daughter Eva Mae may have been born in Hillcrest in 1913. Later on John went to BC and is buried there. If anyone has any resources that they may come across these 2 families in their research I sure would love to have the info.
thank you,
Sandra Radford
Searching for descendants of Edmund (Eddie) Beaudon (Garcin) in Hillcrest area

I am looking for any possible descendants of Edmund (Eddie) Beaudon (Garcin) who lived in the Crowsnest area (Hillcrest) from about 1916 or so until his death, (exact date unknown). His father was Auguste Beaudon who came to the Cowley AB area from France in 1908 according to a grand neice who lives in France and who would very much like to make contact with any family that she might have in Canada. Eddie's Mother was Nancy Julie Garcin Beaudon who died in 1970. Eddie had an older half brother Arthur Garcin who died in 1971. We believe that Eddie married Alma Badot.

Any additional relevant information would be most appreciated.

Obituary, Catherine Amundsen

Hi,
I'm looking for an obituary for my great-aunt, Catherine Amundsen, and I wondered if there is a way of doing it on-line? Does anyone know? I found the two newspapers for the Crowsnest Pass, the Herald and the Promoter, but I couldn't seem to find a way to look in back issues. She died in the last five years.

Thanks,
Robin CRAVEN.

I am looking for one of my grandmother's sisters who disappeared. My grandmother thought she ran off to the gold rush. Her name was Kate McGuire and her brother's obituary says she was living in Alberta.
I found a Katie McGuire in Bellevue Cemetery in Crowsnest.
Where in Alberta is this? Which County?
Was there ever a gold rush in this area?
Does anyone on this list have records for that cemetery?
Thank you for your help.
Mary

Searching for Charlotte Williams sibling.
Charlotte Rosemary Williams nee Gramatski came to Alberta between 1900 and 1910, approx. 1904. She, her sister Elsie and 5 brothers settled with their family in the Crowsnest area to mine. They originated in either Germany or Poland. When Charlotte was approximately 14, she was informally adopted into a family in High River, where she grew up. She married Haviliand Williams in Calgary when she was approximately 21 years of age. I carry a genetic disease, that un-diagnosed, can kill. It is often diagnosed incorrectly and mis-treated. I would like to trace any family members to pass on this message. This is an extremely rare disease, whose defective gene can be carried and passed to future generations. Associated health problems include, hypoglyceimica, osteoporosis caused by hypercalcemia, Graves disease, muscle loss and weakness and extreme fatigue. Sever depression due to incorrect hormone balances also occurr. If you have any hints concerning Charlottes family, please e-mail me @ jcalkin@epsb.edmonton.ab.ca.

I am looking for information on Edith Coates b. Feb. 2, 1899 in Cockfield, Durham, England. She immigrated with her parents & siblings in 1912. Her parents were John & Mary Ellen Coates. Her family lived in Bellevue, Alberta. She left her family in 1916. Her whereabouts after that date are unknown. I would appreciate any information.
