Did you search 1916 Census for the 3 Prairie Provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba ?

Have You searched US Census ?

Where did Samuel SPUNT pass away? Where?
REGISTRATION of DEATH/ Long form Death Certificate
should show date and place of Birth, Names of Parents including maiden name of his mother if known to Informant - Place of birth of his parents if required at the time.

Where did Mary SPUNT [GRODNER] Pass way ? When?
REGISTRATION of DEATH/ Long form Death certificate
shoudl show date and place of birth - names of parents including maiden name of her mother - if known to informant.

MARRIAGE REGISTRATION/Long form Marriage Certificate for Samuel and Mollie
should show names of both sets of parents - including maiden name of the mothers etc.

Marriage REGISTRATION of Mary SPUNT -Sarah SPUNT
should show names of Samuel SPUNT and Mollie SPUNT/GRODNER /?

Your GGrandfather Samuel SPUNT lived in USA -?
Was he born there ? or moved there in 1926?

Married Mollie GRODNER.
Where was the marriage Canada or USA?

Mollie GRODNER - had other children ?
When? where ? were they born ?
Have you researched - re Birth Registrations/long form birth Certificates? - may show maiden name for Mollie GRODNER. Marriage Registrations for these children.
Death Registrations for these children.

Your Grandmother Mary SPUNT b. 1916 and your aunt Sarah SPUNT were both born in Alberta Canada.

If the Surname was SPUNT in USA - the surname would still be SPUNT if they lived in Canada. [unless your GGrandfather - decided to change the surname for some reason - but - if the daughters had the SPUNT surname - that is the name that they used.
It does not matter if they were Jewish.

Searched Automated Genealogy - Census - 1911 for the SPUNT and GRODNER surnames - both appear in the Province of Quebec - There is 0 for Mollie GRODNER - there is a Samuel SPUNT _ but he is age 3 years.
