I am looking for the decendents of a Ruupert Isaac Peters, b. 17 Jul 1904 in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. His father Frank and Grandfather Isaac, Homesteaded in Falun, Alberta from 1904 to 1926.
This is a Swede/Finn family who emigrated to Canada in the late 1890’s

Ruupert, who went by Isaac, is reported to have married a woman from the Pigeon Lake area around 1925-1930, and is reported to have lived in the Peace River Area.
There is also the possibility that they lost two children in a house fire.

Isaac contacted two of his brothers (Art and Leonard) in Vancouver during the 1950's by telephone. That was the last contact the family had.

I am a distant relative of Isaac Peters, and I am in contact with other relatives of his both here in Sweden as in the USA. If you know anything at all about this man and his family, please contact me by e-mail.

sture.torikka@gmail.com

Sincerely

Sture Torikka
Luleå
Sweden

BATEMAN / ROWE / LOCK FAMILIES - Beaverlodge, Alberta

I am seeking descendants and further information on the descendants of the Bateman family.

JOSEPH BATEMAN (1846-1945) was married to Maria Patton and homesteaded in the Beaverlodge District around 1912. This family had migrated from Tecumseth Township, Simcoe County, Ontario at this time.

His sister, SARAH BATEMAN was married to JAMES ALFRED ROWE. This family later migrated from Tecumseth Township and moved to the States. Two of their daughters, Annie Rowe & Bertha Rowe had married two LOCK brothers, whose families eventually moved to Beaverlodge, Alberta as well.

I presume that both these Lock brothers and the Bateman relation were buried in Beaverlodge, Alberta.

The only information I have about the LOCK connection is that Annie Rowe Lock's had a son, named ARTHUR LOCK. He had in turn one son, named ALLAN LOCK. As of the early 1980's, this Allan Lock was residing in Beaverlodge, Alberta.

Any details about these BATEMAN / ROWE/ LOCK connections would be greatly appreciated.

With thanks,

Kevin.

Lazoruk / Karol Family In Peace River and other places

Mary Karol, daughter of Sam Karol and Dumka Unknown, married Nick Lazoruk in Canada. Sam and Dumka went to Caribou, Minnesota. Mary and Nick stayed in Canada and were pioneers in Peace River. Mary and Nick had 11 children. However Mary is listed on Sam's US naturalization in 1905, but I don't think she was in the US for very long.

Mary Karol had brothers George, William, John and a sister Yerosina (Rose) All of these had a step brother, Peter, son of Sam Karol and his 2nd wife Dumka (Kowaliuk) Morrison. Peter drowned on June 23, 1927 in Caribou, MN at the age of 12. According to family history, Mary came for the funeral.

I have a great deal of information on Mary Karol's family, but liitle information on Nick Lazoruk's family. I would be very happy to share information with anyone who may be researching these families.

I am looking for the marriage information for Frank and Elsie. They were married Nov.1910, by Rev. Forbes- probably at Clairmont( Twin Lakes) . Apparently, according to the pioneer book, " Pioneers of the Peace", their marriage was the first one performed by Rev. Forbes. I would appreciate knowing any family information, where they moved to and where they are buried. Edward and Oliver were from Oaklahoma- and homesteaded in the Clairmont, and Beaver Lodge area , Alberta. Looking forward to hearing from you, Sharon.

Edward Randolph Anderson, Son Oliver- Grande Prairie, Alberta

Edward and his family homesteaded in the Clairmont area. Apparently Edward hauled freight between Grouard, and Edmonton. His son Oliver homesteaded, in the Grande Prairie area . Oliver married Estella Stephens, in 1928, in Edmonton- they had a son Sydney . The Anderson family were from Oaklahoma. Oliver was born about Mar. 22nd, 1893 or abt.1896. I would appreciate any information for our family i.e- where did Oliver , Stella, and Sydney move to after Calgary? Where are the Anderson family buried? Where does Sydney live ( could also be named Oliver) ? Hoping to hear from you soon. Sharon

John William and Susan Waldo

Looking for any information about my ancestors who imigrated to Canada from the US in the early 1900's. GGrandparents, John William and Susannah (Susan) Miller Waldo left Washington State for Halcourt, Alberta in 1913 according to a family source. The same source states that John died there in 1928 or 1929. Another source gives the date of Susan's death as 6-8-1936.No place of death is given. When John and Susan left the US they had a child living with them by the name of Agnes. She is listed as their foster daughter in the 1910 census. Agnes later married a man named Albert Peacock. A typewritten letter written by Agnes describes John William as her grandfather. The letter has no date and appears to be written in the 1950's or 1960's. At the time of the writing she was living in Calgary, Alberta and she signed the letter, Mrs. Albert Peacock.

In 1917 my father, James Arthur DeMerice was born in Grand Prairie, Alberta Canada to James Weaver DeMerice and Mamie Waldo, the daughter of JW and Susan Waldo. The DeMerice family returned to the states sometime before 1930 when they are once again found in the federal census living with their 13 year old son in Washington State

I would welcome any information that might shed some light on the identity of Agnes, gravesites of John and Susan or any other information about this family. Thanks so much for any help.

Linda

Cowpar/L'Hirondelle/Callihoo/Bisson

I'm looking for information on the family names listed above.
What I have gathered so far is as follows:
Thomas Gallehoe/Callihoo married Marie Findly.
Their daughter, Melanie, born Dec 1872 married Baptiste Bisson on 1 Jan 1889 in Lac Ste. Anne, AB

Melanie and Baptiste had at least 2 children. One of them, Marie, married B. L'Hirondelle. Marie died very young (about 1917) leaving a daughter, Marie Florence, born 1916 in Grande Prairie to be raised by her grandparents. She was educated at Beaverbrook and Cariboo schools.

Marie "Florence", married Joseph Cowpar.

Joseph was the son of Charlie Cowpar and Julia Callihoo.

I've just begun working on a family history and would like to fill in some of the blanks. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have seen some references to these families in various local histories and etc. but really have very little information to go on.

Apparently, Charlie Cowpar had 4 sons and 2 daughters. He was a Scotsman who was quite well known in the Wembley area. He worked as an accountant at Kranz Bros. store there.

Thanks.

Jenny

Charlie (Charles Hamilton) Cowpar and Julia/Julie Malbeouf were from Ile-a -la-Crosse, Saskatchewan. They moved to the Wembley area of Alberta at some point.

My understanding is that she had been previously married to a ?

Hello there:

I'm looking for any information on May (DART) McKAY and her daughter, Lilly McKAY who lived in Grande Prairie in the early to (at least mid) 1940s.

May taught music 3 days a week and Lilly worked in a drug store in 1944. They moved to Grande Prairie probably in 1941. May corresponded with her Aunt Martha (BREDALEN) DART and Martha's daughter Dorothy (DART) LARSEN in North Dakota, but her last letter was dated 14 December 1944, and apparently the family has not heard from this branch since.

May was the daughter of Al (possibly Almon or Almond) E. DART who was born in Wisconsin, brought up in Indiana, homesteaded in North Dakota, moved to the Peace River District of British Columbia and died in Saskatchewan in 1935 while returning to BC from ND.

May had a brother, Guy C. DART who died in Fort St. John, BC in 1977, and also had a sister Emma.

May's fater Al was brother to Jay Andrew DART, my wife's grandfather. We have been unable to trace her DART line back past Jay with any certainty. There are many missing pieces, and any information at all would be greatly appreciated.

Robert N.
I am currently researching my great grandparents, Joachem (went by Jans or Jens)DOB June 19, 1872 and Kari Anderson (nee Krogseng) DOB April 18, 1873. They immigrated from Norway to North Dakota in approximately 1890, and moved to Beaverlodge, Alberta in approximately 1917. They had seven children Alf (Jan 30, 1896),Albert (Feb 25,1898), Helen (DOB July 26, 1900),George (March 17,1904),Norman (May 23,1906), Henry (April 11, 1909) and Einar (DOB Aug 31, 1911). Some of the family lived in Wembley. My grandfather, Norman, died in 1954 (in British Columbia)and at that time all contact was lost with the family. We would be grateful to receive any information at all regarding this family as we are trying to do up a family history.

Tracey

My father, Martin Victor Sandberg, married his first wife, Anne Dorothy May Stephens, in Grande Prairie on Dec 20, 1934. My two half brothers, Denzel and Dale were born in Sexsmith in 1935 and 1938 respectively. Martin's sister, Ruth, had previously settled somewhere in the Peace River Country, with her husband Henry Foster. I believe there are a number of Stephens still around the Peace River, on both sides of the BC-Alberta border, but I have very little information on whatever became of the Fosters. I'd be interested in making contact with anyone who recognizes these names or may be related.
Tim Sandberg
Calgary

Many years ago my grandmother received a letter from a lady in Alberta who was doing some family research. She never replied and threw out the letter. I still have not determined which of the family members went west, but I do have some pictures. One is of 4 girls about 1925 and it says, "How do you like your 4 grandaughters in Alberta." Another is a Grande Prairie post card with no words on it. This is the clue that leads me here. If any of this rings a bell for anybody, please contact me. I'd love to put this little puzzle together.
