I am looking for information regarding Patricia Ellis nee O'Connor.
Patricia O'Connor was born in 1907-08 possibly in Saskatchewan. In 1938 she was married to a man with the last name Ellis but they were seperated. She had one child. She was living and working as a housekeeper in Diamond City Alberta which is very close to Lethbridge.
I don't Patricia's parent's names or her husband's name.

BRENNAN - Identify 1906 & 1911 Census Districts & Sub-Districts

I found Mamie or Mary Elizabeth (BRENNAN) SINGER on the 1906 Alberta census. I need help to determine census districts and sub-districts in both the 1906 and 1911 census. Mrs. SINGER, above, was 25 miles north of Lethbridge, on land west of the 4th Principal Meridian, Section 9, Township 12, Range 21. (The 1906 census shows this as Alberta District, Sub-District 24.)

Mrs. Singer’s, mother Mrs. BRENNAN, was living in Lethbridge March 1907 and was still there June 1909. It may be that in June 1909 she was living 60 miles northeast of Lethbridge. A Mrs. George GRIEVER was living at the location and it is possible that Mrs. BRENNAN could have married George GRIEVER.

I need help locating BRENNAN, SINGER, and GRIEVER in the 1906 and 1911 census. The index has failed me. So I would like to focus on the most likely sub-districts first.

Two other persons figure in my search, Miss Jennie BRENNAN, of Medicine Hat, sister of Mary Elizabeth. Jennie was living there June 1909. The index for the 1911 census did not help me find her.

The other person is Billy BRENNAN the husband of Mrs. W. BRENNAN. Billy left Lethbidge September 1914 to join his old regiment, the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry.

I am trying to find all of these people in the censuses. My ultimate objective is to locate the place of birth of Mary Elizabeth BRENNAN.

Any help would be deeply appreciated.

I am told that George TOMASKI (or TOMACKI) married Anna POLICH (or possibly a longer form that sounds like Pelupchuk)in Lethbridge in about 1910, or at least before they crossed the border into Montana on 24 Oct 1912. Has anyone heard of these names? Where would I write to track down their marriage record? I can't find them in the 1911 Census. Can anyone help me? Thank you so much!

I have an undated obit for Jane MacKenzie in which it states she was buried in the `family plot,city cemetery. She resided at 604 - 12th St.south at the time of her death.
Funeral services were held from Martin Brothers Cahpel with Rev. J.M. Pritchard officiating.
I was wondering if cemetery records are available on line.
Jane was the wife of Alexander MacKenzie, they had three children William Ross, Jean T. and Anna M.

Walter's brothers and sisters were Lawrence, Tommy, Bob, John, Sis and Lil. It was believed that Walter had a daughter living around Lethbridge in 1961 but this daughter would be likely near 100 years old today. Georgina was born in Kirkpatrick Juxta, Drumfries, Scotland to William Mitchell (born 1836) and Martha Jane Borthwick (19 December 1838).

James Smart of Angus – late of Crossfield.

My grandfather’s uncle, James Smart migrated to the US and settled in Sioux Rapids where most of his children were born to him and his wife Annie Mitchell Cook. The family moved to Crossfield around 1902/3 where James and three of his sons acquired farms.

My grandfather was John C. Smart who migrated to Australia and I am researching our family. I would be very happy to make contact with descendants of James, some of whom I believe may live in Calgary and Lethbridge and other centres nearby.

I am looking for some kind of proof that my mother Edith Marie Evans Caviness b. 31 Oct. 1907 was a resident of Lethbridge around 1915-20?? or so.

Her father was Robert Wiley Evans. Her step-mother was Rhetta Barker Evans. Her brother Calvin was two years younger than her. There may have been two step-brothers also in the household.

They came from Arkansas to Lethbridge and then went to Oklahoma.

Robert was a meat cutter.

In 1984, Mrs. Mary Cole of Lakeway Bldv., Lethbridge, Alta. added the surnames she was researching to the OGS Surname listing.
It appears she was researching the same family that I am now researching, that of Pierce and Julia Grace from County Mayo, Ireland but I fear I am too many years from 1984 to find her.
There is no listing for Mary Bole at this address in Lethbridge.

I'm trying to trace my grandmother's brother, missing to us since just after the First World War. Here is everything that my family knows about him:

Name - James Irvine Fisher, known as Jim Fisher
Born - 06 January 1889, in Rockvale, Fremont County, Colorado
Came to Nanaimo, B.C., in 1900
Trade - newspaper printer, in Nanaimo, Surf Inlet, B.C., possibly other places

Army records - was draughted in Vancouver in 1918, just before war the ended. His records say that he was 'five foot five, 112 pounds... with a "persistent cough" and "some cardiac hypertrophy"' [enlargement of the heart]. He was single, known to be a heavy drinker, and as the preceding hints, possibly unhealthy. On his discharge in early 1919 he stated his intended address as Lethbridge, Alberta. The records show that in 1920 the Army tried to send him a cheque for ten dollars [to an unknown address], but it was returned as "unknown".

He was not heard from after about 1919, and his death is not registered in B.C. I'm wondering if he died in Alberta. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I am looking for Joseph Szakacs who had his last name changed to Cook. His family lived in Lethbridge. His siblings names were Gilbert, Louie & Elizabeth. This name change took place back in August 1943.

I am the daughter of Gilbert Rober Cook Jr. and I am looking for info on anyone who know any people related or information about our family. Gilbert Robert Cook Sr. was born in Hungary and had some brothers and sisters. I don't know any of there information. The last name was changed shortly after Gilbert Robert Cook Sr. married Mary Borhyn. I believe the last name was Sackage. That is how it is pronounced but not sure on the spelling.

Gilbert Robert Cook Sr. died in a train accident just outside of Lethbridge, Alberta. This was back around 1970.

I was born Bradford Lee Ferguson on October 21, 1952; in the Calgary General Hospital. My Mother, Elsie Belle Ferguson (born in Nobleford, Alberta) & Father, Norman Albert Lindwall (born in Lethbridge, Alberta) were not married but lived together for 12 years prior to my birth. They were 32 years old, which means they were born around 1920. My mother, of English decent, had 2 other childen older than myself, One is 7 years older and the other is 10 years older than myself.She was a housekeeper and she had 2 sisters and 1 brother who we believe was a firefighter. My father, who was also adopted, was of Danish decent and had 1 brother. He was musically inclined and was a construction worker/painter by trade.
At the time of my birth, Elsie Ferguson lived at Suite 503, Victoria Aparpatments in Calgary. She lived there from Sept 1948 to March/52 She lived also for a short time in Barones, then moved back to Calgary (442 - 3rd Ave, East in Calgary), then moved to Delacour Alberta then to 229 - 25th Ave. NE Calgary and after that for a short time in Airdrie. She lived at all of the above for no more than a month or two at any time.
My birth Father Norman Albert Dendwall lived at 3816 - 15St. SE. in Calgary at the time of my birth. According to the information I have, both parents were Morman at the time of my birth. My birth father was in the Army for 6 months.

MacDonalds of Heisker (Monach Islands)

I am hoping to find any descendants of the MacDonalds of Heisker (Heiskier), North Uist, Inverness, Scotland.

From what I understand, the Monachs were completely inhabited by only MacDonalds and the population at it's highest point was approx 140 in the late 1800's.

The islands are now uninhabited save a lighthouse, seals and some puffins.

I am a direct descendant of both Murdoch MacDonald & Annie McLellen (B abt 1852) and Norman MacDonald & Jessie Mathieson (B abt 1852 as well). Both Norman and Murdoch worked as postmen between Heiskier and the mainland of North Uist and Benbecula.

If anyone else is a descendant of the MacDonalds of Heiskier, I would love to get in contact with you.

I know that there is a Dunsmore connection with the family and that Alexander Scott moved to the US, Yam Hill, Ill. and had two children (Mary and Helen) but this is all the information I have and would very much like to expand this side of the family.

Hildus and Olava Hiller moved to Canada in the early 1900's from Pierce County North Dakota. Hildus is listed in a
book on pioneers and settlers:
"Hildus Hiller got the first load of Lethbridge Experimental Station."
Hildus was born May 1870 and Olava was born 1877 in Norway and died sometime after 1936. They were married sometime after 1900.

The above info is an extract from a publication by the Cluny Hist. Soc.(pub.1975) whriten by Rose Arnold. Francis Evariste Renaud was my great grandfather's brother. Just happend to see this document last fall and had it chequed in our family data bank to confirm relationship. It is extraordinary to find a long lost relative!! I am trying to find out who were the parents of my Great-grandfather...Harry Sylvanis Bixby who lived in the Pincher Creek area in the early 1900's. He died 2/6/1910 in Nevada, Missouri and was buried in Grannum cemetary. After his death, his wife, Mary Abiah Haw Bixby supposedly married his brother Frank D., no dates available. Mary returned to the states without Frank. It was suggested to me to look at the border crossing records or Alberta Homestead Index. If someone has access and can check for me this would be great. Or if someone just knows something useful you'd make my day.

also known as Joe Johnson. In Nov 1914 Jonas Johnson (aged 31) married my
great grandmother Augusta Thompson (listed as 42 years but actually 47, a
widow with 5 children - her oldest Alf being only 8 years younger than Joe)
in Fort Macleod, Alberta. Jonas is listed as being born in Sweden. In 1917
they are listed as living in Onoway, AB. They are back in Fort Macleod in
the 1920's. Augusta died in Ponoka in 1936 (she was committed there by Joe
in 1932). Joe died sometime after 1965 and before 1979, probably in
Lethbridge or area. I am looking in particular for his date of death so I
can track down an obit or funeral home records.

His sons Harry, Theodore and Stanley also went and were joined by my greatgrandmother Inez Graham Norton and her husband Victor Norton. Sometime later Joseph came back to the states and the Nortons returned about 1914 or so. Mom says they used to be in contact with relatives there but have lost touch. Louis Nelson and his wife Emilie Forslin Nelson married in Lethbridge in 1901 lived in the Lethbridge to New Dayton area around 1910. They are buried in New Dayton Cemetery (1951 and 1955 repectively.) They had 8 children. Emilie is my great aunt.
