Hi,It is difficult to find information in Alberta.
Marriages, Births, Deaths - are supposed to be registered with the Govt of Alberta Vital Statistics Dept.
They do not make this information available - easily.
One needs to request - and order the information
Genealogical Registrations of Marriage, Birth,Death from the Govt of Alberta Vital Statistics Registry Office in Edmonton.
There is no online index:
The cost is $40 Cndn. I am not sure if they will do a basic search - at no cost.
This information will not be found at Ancestry.com
Have you checked for Cemetery Records ? Even older Cemeteries -kept records of burials - who paid etc. who made arrangements for burial etc.
Medicine Hat Public Library - may hold old newspapers in their collection - re Obituary
http://www.mhpl.info/With a name like John WILSON - a difficult search.
But a thought - You know where he was born - Perhaps Obits for his parents - siblings may mention John WILSON & family.
Location etc.
Is it possible that he was in the Millitary? - WW1?
Land records - for the last area you believe he may have settled?
Cheers, STella
