Hi Melanie,
somehow I´ve known you since you were born!
For a real long time your father was like a brother for me - a brother i´ve never had. We used to write letters for so many years and then wisited for a couple of times, Got to know your family in Vegreville; familiy, friends and neighbours. Then somehow the contact stopped; tried to get in contact again via his brothers and sister-even his mother Kay; they somehow never mentioned him; your uncle Doug told me to forget about the past - how could I! Rob is the person I will never forget about. You know, he was such a proud father!

Would love to hear from you.

Susanne Feldhaus (Susanne Schlüter)
Am Graben 7
D 45711 Datteln
Germany
This I cannot believe. For years I´ve tried to get in contact via his brothers and sister; no one ever mentioned him. When we were younger he was the brother I never had. After years of just writing letters we visited a couple of times. Got to know his family in Vegreville; knew about you, Melanie; he was such a proud father - and the suddenly no more letters, no hints from the rest of the familiy;your uncle Doug told me not to hang on to the past - but Robert nerver was`"past" - as I´ve mentioned before - he was like a brother to me - sure I will never forget him.

Hello,

My name is Mélanie Sprigings and I am Robert Sprigings daughter. I was googling my fathers name and found all these wonderful messages from people looking for my father. I am sad to inform all of you that my father has recently passed away but it brought me much joy, during this sad time, that people around the world were searching to contact my father. I would like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart. This has touched me immensely.

My gt-grandfather's brother (Robert Sutton) moved to Canada in 1904 and settled in Chailey. He and his wife, Harriet Alice Baron had two daughters, Kathleen and Marjorie (who married into the Cockle and Jackson families). I have this info from the book on Our Roots - 'Trails to Mannville and districts'.

I am wondering if any of their relatives are interested in swapping information. I have alot of information about Robert and his family he left behind in Wales.

My sister Gail Jopko would have the most information on the family ancestry , but of course my mother would have the most information on Bea as they were quite close.Bea's youngest brother, Nelson Drozdowich of Abbotsford B.C. is also still alive and well.

I am searching for information on the family of Wladyslaw "Walter" Scibish (or Scibisz). To the best of my knowledge, his wife's name was Marjanna, they lived in (or near) Vegreville, and they had the following children: Josephine, Sonia (Sosha), Wanda, and Jenny (Geofefa) who married Darcy Lowe. I have a passenger list record that shows Wladyslaw and his wife arrived from Poland in 1930 in Halifax; and that his father's name was Francissek. I've searched most obvious places on the Web, but this does not appear to be a common surname. Thank you!

MILBURN family

Hello Everyone,

I am trying to find out what happened to some ancestors that emigrated to Canada in 1929, did they have any further descendants, etc. The family is that of:

Hudson MILBURN b,1896,Durham,England.
Elsie (Harriett) MILBURN (nee PORTINGALE),b,1896,Wiltshire,England.
Isabella J. MILBURN,b,1916,Bristol,England.
Donald MILBURN,b,1920,Bristol,England.
Hudson MILBURN,b,1926,Durham,England.
James MILBURN,b,1928,Durham,England.

According to the Canadian Passenger Lists they emigrated to Canada on 12th May 1929, aboard the Montrose, bound for Quebec.
The eldest son Donald MILBURN married a lady called Molly. Donald was a "Lieut D" in WW2 and his wife Molly was repatriated to Minburn, Alberta in 1946. They then had a son called John born circa 1948.

In May 1949 Molly, her son John, and her mother-in-law Harriett (Elsie) MILBURN returned to Weybridge, Surrey and also Norton St Philip, Bath in England

The three of them, Molly, John & Harriett then travelled back to Halifax, Nova Scotia in December 1949.

By May 1952 Donald MILBURN had become an Immigration Officer and the whole family travelled across to the Netherlands together.

By July 1959 Donald is back in England and then returned once again to Quebec and Montreal.

I have yet to find Molly and her son John returning to Canada between 1952 and 1959.
I think that some of the Milburn family may have settled near London Ontario, because when my grandfather was still alive, he visited them in Canada and bought me back a "London Tigers" T-shirt.
I would really appreciate any further help finding out what happened to this MILBURN family or their descendants in Canada.
Fingers crossed! Paul.
Hi, My name is Thomas Robertson from Calgary. My mother was Ann Yukim (spelling varies, Yukum, etc) born around 1922 in Innisfree. Her father was John Yukim and her birth mother (John's first wife) died when she was very young and I am trying to find her name. She also had a daughter Jean. John then remarried Anna Dulaba and had Emily (Osoyoos) and Edward, deceased. If you have any info on John and his first wife, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You
Tom Robertson
Hello - I don't know if you are still willing to do look-ups for questions in this area. If you are, I am interested in finding out any information about (Henry) Albert Boardman who I believe lived in Vegreville in 1917. He was born in 1901 in Iowa, but the family moved to Alberta in about 1904-06. When his father (Albert Tuttle Boardman) was in France during the war, the contact address given for Myrtle Ethel Boardman (AT's wife, and HA's mother) was c/o H.A.Boardman, Vegreville. If HA Boardman was there in 1917, he may have been a boarder with someone, or perhaps going to school. It's a long shot, but if you can come up with anything, this would be hugely helpful. Many thanks in advance!

I am not sure if you still do lookups in Vegreville area...

I am looking for Hamiltons. Particularly anything on Andrew Hamilton (b 1852 d. 1922) Andrew is my great-grandfather. Also, Thomas Hamilton (brother b 1860 d. 1931) who was unmarried (from what we know) and William (a son of Andrew who was b. 1882 and d. 1956).

We believe that William, Andrew & wife Annie plus daughter Estella Hamilton White are all buried in Mt Pleasant. We "think" Thomas may be buried there, too.

There is also a daughter that I think is buried in Vegreville. Her name is Annabel Hamilton Langpap (b 1890 d. 1968) She is known to be buried in Riverside Cemetery (Vegreville), but I have no pictures to confirm the grave... The Edmonton Saga referred to her as Hamilton (but she married & had 4-5 boys) so I do not understand that...

Please let me know if you still do lookups and what (dates) information (additional) you may need.

Deb Merrick

Hi, I have a family that moved from Ontario to Innisfree after 1911. I'm wondering if there might be anything mentioned on the Thomas Alexander Barnes family. His wife's name was Mary Ann Milton. Their children were Edward J. Barnes, Edward Gallaher Barnes, Rosemond Isabell Barnes, Graham Barnes and William Barnes.

Thanks so much for your help.

I was in contact with Kay at Christmas 2008. Rob is still living in a small apartment in Edmonton. He doesn't have a phone. I do have the address. I will contact him and ask his permission to post the address here. Other than that, I cannot share much more with you.

The Master Surname Index (not online) (mostly burials in Alberta cemeteries) of the Alberta Genealogical Society lists 14 LASKOSKI names, all burials in the Holden cemetery, and a few in other cemeteries, but no Barbara.

For further research please contact the AGS Research Services Committee of the Edmonton Branch,
http://abgensoc.ca/
Peter

Looking for information about my Great Grandmother, Barbara who immigrated to Alberta with her sisters, Anne and Mary. Curious if there are any relatives out there. I am currently creating a family tree and have gone back 7 generations on one part of it.

Rick

1976 I was with Rob Sprigings of Vegreville, Alberta, Canada at the Lions International Youth Camp in Montgomery Alabama. Rob was a great guy. He visited me at home (Belgium) in 1977 or 1978. I would also like to get in touch with him. Does anybody have an e-mail address of Rob?

Thanks. Rik
