Surnames: Van Duzee, Hampl, Griffith
I am trying to piece together dates, as well as more information on ancestors and decendants of Bradford Finney Van Duzee and Anne (nee: Hampl) Van Duzee.
What I have to Date is:
-Bradford Finney Van Duzee, DOB July 2, 1860, Varguay Wisconsin (?), Died ABT November 1927, Calgary Alberta. Burried at Carstairs, Alberta. Father= Bradford Foster Van Duzee. Married ?Katherine Griffith, Jackson County (?state). They had 3 or 4 children. She died. Married Anne Hampl (widow) with 3 or 4 children.

Before marrying, apparently Bradford road many a cowboy trail, including the legendary Chisholm trail.
-Anne Hampl, DOB ?/?/1868, Bohemia. Immigrated to USA from Bohemia, with her family, when all the male children of Bohemia were to be conscripted. Died 1918 Dogpound (just west of Carstairs), Alberta. Buried at Carstairs Alberta with Bradford. Parents unknown. Oldest child is Charles (redhead) who went to live with uncle when Bradford and Anne moved to Canada. When Bradford and Anne married, they had 7 children between them. They had another 5 (one died in infancy and is burried with Bradford's parents in Jackson County cemetary).

In 1901, Bradford visited NWT, present day Alberta. He had opportunity to purchase some land near Carstairs but chose to purchase slightly further west, now Dogpound. He returned to the USA to bring his new wife and children here (seven children). The family immigrated to Canada and their new home ABT May 1902. They then built the barn and lived in the loft, until the house proper was built. In July 1902, their son Nathanial (Bert) Burton Van Duzee was born - the first family member to be Canadian. Within a few short years, two more children were added.

When Anne died, after being ill to the point of being an invalid for three years, Bradford left the farm, shortly thereafter, and moved to Calgary. Some older family say it was because he just didn't have the heart anymore after outliving 2 wifes and an infant child.

I am not to sure of all their children's names but the ones I do know are: Foster Van Duzee, Colonel Van Duzee, May - married Fred McFadzen (Beaverlodge, Alberta); Grace Smith (husband name unsure) (Grande Prairie, Alberta); Pearl - married Fay Stone (Dogpound, Alberta); Nathanial (Bert) Burton - married Frances Amy Cave (nee: Holden) (Grande Prairie/Beaverlodge/Hythe District, Alberta) died February 6, 1978, Beaverlodge Alberta.
My Grandfather was Nathanial Burton Van Duzee. He was the first of the Van Duzee family to be born in Canada. He served in the army (with a Calgary unit) during WWII. Stationed in England, he met a widow Frances Cave (nee: Holden). She had 3 children, whom he adopted: Mary, Michael and Ann. Bert (as Nathanial was know) and Frances had three girls, Blanche, Carol and Mavis (all born in England). In May 1947, Frances and the children (6 in all) sailed for Canada on the Queen Mary II, to join Bert and his family. Bert took his family to Dogpound to live with his sister Pearl, on the farm, until they could set up their own home. Sadly for Bert, his 16 month old Daughter, Mavis Pearl, had a tumble into the heater and was severely burnt. Mavis died from these injuries. She was laid to rest with her grandparents, Bradford and Anne, in the family plot in the Carstairs, Alberta Cemetary.

From word of mouth, that has been passed down through the generations, has the Van Duzee family originating in Holland. Apparently 2 brothers set sail, in approx 1650, from Anthworp or Amsterdam, for the USA. Some have them originally settling in the Pennsylvania area. It is said that at least one of the brothers married a girl who had immigrated from Bohemia.

This is where I need more information. To fill in the gaps.
