I did not know where Grand Isle was either.. Found it at site below.. I love to get maps with counties because it is so much easier to Sluth that missing family or person when you know Where they lived..

MY line Cherbino/Noel were in Addison Co. that is two counties south of Grand Isle .. which is right on the border .. of Canada .. probably where Most of our Can/French lines went first .. I now that there were a lot of Charbonneaus in Chittenden , the county between ours.

Print this map .. it really helps..

Now .. I have two Antoine Charbonneau's in my line one married Sophie GRIGNON the other, their son married Clarissa LABONTE.

The eldest parents were #2 Basile Charbonneau and Esther Catherine PELLETIER his parents were BAZILE Baptiste Messier-Duchesne CHARBONNEAU and M-ELIZABETH Banlier HEBERT .. Basile #2 a brother to my J Toussiant Charbonneau / Toshaw CHERBINO of Addison Co., VT...
The above were born in Varennes Co., Vercheres, Canada

Check this iste.. for BORDER CROSSINGS and other info..
