No the Newell name for this county and Newell Lake near Brooks wasn't from our line. I did always think that but, it happened to be an American agriculturist.
My family arrived in Pasely and the Medicine Hat area in 1908 Alexander Woolley and Mary Newell arrived in 1903. The rest of the clan (Camby Foster Newell) went to Edmonton.
One thing though a James(jim) Newell was with the Edmonton Police when my folks were first married (1945) and I have an address and wifes name (at home... I'm at work now. An inquery to the police museum drew a blank but, I think that was because of the person I spoke to not because they don't have a record.... I've found him in the city directory being a sargent in the police). Will advise when I get more.
On the Woolleys side I've received a letter from a Braeton(sp) who says he has about 3000 in his file.... combined with Ron Woolleys American 3,700 (I have the file now) save the duplicates it makes an impressive work 1066 to today) I'll be visiting Ron in Tampa in September (after leaving Ontario)and I'm looking forward to that.
