I am researching the Courtoreille/Courteoreille lines originating in the Lac Ste Anne/St Albert, Alberta areas. They were also connected with the Michel Callihoo Band. My great grandfather was Narcisse, son of Louis Pepamowew Courteoreille and Sophie Belcourt. Louis was the son of Joseph Pepamowew dit Nipissing Courteoreille and Suzanne Desjarlais. i would like to exchange information with anyone descended from these lines or descended from the siblings of Narcisse - Emmerance, Patrick, Nancy, Betsy, Mary, Hilare or Josue.

Horn, Zahn: Stony Plain

Hi, I'm looking for information on the Horn or Zahn families that live(d) around Stony Plain, Rosenthal district since about 1905. My grandparent's names were Ferdinand (1887-1981) and Pauline Zahn (1894-1965). They homesteaded just north of Stony when my dad was born (Arthur). They raised 13 children and many of the older ones were quite musical.
If you have any information I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you in advance.
Tracey Lapshinoff

Horn and Zahn family from Stony Plain

I am looking for information on the Horn and Zahn families from around Stony and Rosenthal areas. Ferdinand Horn moved into the area in about 1905 from a small village from Russian with a friend from the family and some of the family followed later. Possible brothers are Edward, Rudolf and Adolf. Ferdinand married Pauline Zahn in 1912 and they lived north of Stony on the homestead and raised 13 children. They owned a butcher shop in town for a few years and then he owned turkeys and sold them in Edmonton.
Pauline came to the area with her father (August) in about 1905 then the rest came later, I only know of 1 sister, Louise but I know there were other family members.
If anyone can help on either one of these names I would really appreciate it.
Thank you in advance for your help

Buzenius in Foley Trail book

My maiden name is Buzenius. There are less than a dozen people in all of the USA that have that last name. My sister-in-law is now Chris Buzenius and the name in the book Foley Trail index is also Chris Buzenius. I find it amusing that not only have I located another Buzenius name, the first name is also within our current family. As anyone who does genealogy research can imagine, I am very curious about the Foley Trail Buzenius. If anyone can assist me with an answer, I'd be most greatful. I live in Texas and can't make it up to Alberta easily. Thank You
Theodore Clausen in Winterburn?

Hi!

I have found that probably one of my ancestors; Theodore Clausen, born 1845 in Germany, is indexed in a history book named "Memory Trails of Winterburn" (Parkland Co., Alberta), Winterburn Women´s Institute, 1977. I would be very happy if someone could look up this information in the book and let me know what is written about him.
Theodore Clausen came from the States to Alberta in 1894 and had 5-6 children. The family resided first in the Shady Nook area, Burnt Lake, Red Deer Co., Alberta, Canada.

Many thanks,
Susanne Holmin
HOMME

Lars Homme came to Alberta from Poplar, Minnesota in 1906 and took up homesteading at Burtonsville that same spring. There was no post office at Burtonsville at that time so his mail came to Mewassin. Heavy supply wagons brought supplies through to the logging camps. There was some logging being done in this area as well as farther west. He built himself a dugout in the hillside, covered it with tamarack poles and birch bark with sod on top. He lived there until he built his house. That summer, after he movedout he used it for his pig house and it was still in use until 1915 when the birch bark rotted and the shed began to leak. He was handy with carpenter tools and make his own furniture. His home-made rocker is still in the family, along with many other articles he made. He built himself a blacksmith shop and was know far around as 'Old Louie the Blacksmith'. Lars never married but enjoyed watching, his nephew, Axel's family grow up.
