Hi Stella
Thanks for reply. I know about the BC Archives index which is where I got Eileen Eyre's death date and have written to a volunteer to obtain death registration and hopefully an obit. I have daughter Ethel's marriage registration. At the time I did not know that the mother Eileen (nee McDonogh) Shaw had remarried and just recently found this through a delayed birth registration for son Cyril completed in 1945 which shows her name as Eileen Eyre. I see by the Red Deer West 1916 census that Eileen was head of house and presumingly husband Thomas had died probably in Red Deer after daughter Ethel was born abt 1913/4 in Red Deer.
I am hoping through my post to find a death date for Thomas Henry Shaw died between 1913 and 1916 in Red Deer area and from there an obituary. As well I believe Eileen (McDonogh) Shaw may have remarried the unknown Eyre in Red Deer area. There are two Eyre families that show up in the Red Deer area and as this is not a common surname seems likely the new husband is related to one of these families. The families are Hicks Eyre and Frederick Eyre and there are also two Eyre families who show up in Edmonton 1916 census.
Also hoping that some kind soul will be able to research the Red Deer street directories to ascertain how long couple was in Red Deer area. Ideally the street entry will be something like Shaw, Thomas H (wife Eileen) occupation street address and at some point will become Shaw, Eileen widow of Thomas and later an entry for a Eyre, Unknown (wife Eileen) as this would give some timelines.
