Page family from Stettler

Hello

between 1901 and 1906 Harvey Page (born Feb 1872) and his wife wife, Agnes (born Jan 1878; nee McGee) moved to Stettler. They are found in both the 1906 and 1911 Census. To the best of my knowledge they had 4 sons - Gerald (wife is perhaps Kay?), Dickson Page, Floyd Page, and George Page.

Someime between 1906 and 1911 Harvey's younger brother, Dickson Page (born 1891) joined them. He is with the family in the 1911 Census.

I would dearly love to know the death dates and burial locations for this family.

My connection is through Harvey Page's mother, Ellen Davis, who was a sister to my great, great grandmother. I have a lot of information the Davis family and other branches that I would love to share.

Sincerely

Thelma

William C. Proctor – Stettler, Alberta

I would love hear from my distant cousins or any fellow genealogists who can help me confirm information or fill in any blanks I have regarding my great grandfather’s brother William C. (Charles?) Proctor and his family in Alberta.

What I know so far is:

Born about 1 Oct. 1874 in Ontario – Probably in Euphrasia Township, Grey County, Ontario, near the village of Kimberley. Son of William Proctor and Mary Webb

In the 1906 census there is a 32 year old William Proctor listed at Stettler, Alberta, who was not married.

Married Mary Ellen Clark

Died Aug. 1953 – An obituary found in the Grey County Ontario Archives dated 27 Aug. 1953 states: “MEAFORD WOMAN LOST BROTHER IN THE WEST – While she was completing plans for a visit with her brother Wm. C. Proctor, of Stettler, Alta., Mrs. John R. Randle received the sad news of his sudden passing. Mrs. Randle expected to leave on Monday for the West. Word came Tuesday evening that her brother had passed away earlier in the day. Another sister, Mrs. Richard Solomon also resides in Meaford.”
Children: Gordon, William, John & Helen

I can share the information I have about this family’s roots in Ontario and England.

Regards,
Dale Proctor
North Bay ON

I was in Compeer in 2001, and at that time I was able to look at a book that listed my Aunt and Uncle Kilmer Brovald as living on that particular farm, I do not know if this was the book you reffered to, or a local book. I did not have the presence of mind to inquire of this book at that time. thank you again Kurt Brovald

We have a newspaper article and picture of my husband's great-great-grandfather, Robert Phillips. The title of the article is "The Joys of Eventide." Part of the article is missing and we do not now which paper it is from. From the article we read that he lived in Big Valley, Alberta and had beautiful gardens. He was 84 at the time article was written. He was born in Cambridgeshire, England and lived in the U.S. and Canada for many years. He and his wife (don't have name) had a daughter named Elizabeth, who is my husband's great-grandmother. Where can I check in Alberta to find any info? We greatly appreciate any help...Thank You!

My great grandparents, Alexander Malcolm and Christie Jean Campbell are buried in the graveyard on the south side of Stettler. I have to be in Calgary (I live in Ottawa) on the 8-9th of April and plan to drive to Stettler on April 10th or 11th. I am wondering if anything is open on the weekend where I could learn more about my great grandparents...where they lived; what they did, character references, how they died. I believe they lived on a farm in Erskine before they moved to Stettler but am unsure. I also believe my g grandmother lost both legs but don't know how. Please advise as to how I can obtain more information about them.
Thanks..my home e-mail address is: arobjell@netcom.ca
Hello,

Would someone happen to know if there exists newspapers on
microfilm for the Stettler area circa 1926-1928?

I'm hoping to locate obituaries for two people who are buried in Botha, Alberta which is just east of Stettler.

They are:
Christina ROUNDS, died 11 October 1928
Henry Alexander ROUNDS, died 29 November 1926

I've looked through the National Library of Canada list of newspapers but didn't see Stettler mentioned.

Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated!

Lucy McKee, the wife of Sylvester, is said to be buried near Stettler, but her grandson who is now in his late 80s, says that the tombstone has either been broken or there never was one. I suspect she died sometime between 1905 when they arrived from Kansas and 1909 when Sylvester made his will, as there is no mention of Lucy in the will. Two of the children, Harry Leroy and Kate (who married Bill Wilson), settled near Rumsey/Rowley, while the other two, Emory and Edna, returned with their father to the US, and settled in California.

If anyone can help me find Lucy's grave and a date of death, I would very much appreciate it.

TEWKSBURY INQUIRY

I found my great grandfather's brother and sister-in-law in the Canada 1901 census on-line, Parker B and Abigail TEWKSBURY, and two of their children, Alonzo and Minnie TEWKSBURY. Subsequent information has placed them at Red Willow in Stattler County. Later three other children joined them in that area, David Decker TEWKSBURY who we believe was killed in an accident there about 1920, his sister Flavia and her husband John W LANE, and another sister Abbie LEARY and possibly her husband, first name unknown. Parker B TEWKSBURY died about 1907 and his wife Abigail died about 1913. I believe they were buried at Red Willow, probably at the Prairie Grove cemetery. Is there an index of names from that cemetery? Can someone check it for me? I intend to travel from Wisconsin to Edmonton area arriving there about September 19. Would like to know if I am on the right track. I am also looking for descendants of these families who may yet be in the area. Would like to find someone to advise me in locating property records and birth and marriage records of this family when I arrive in the area. Thank you. Harold

I have just received a photocopy of a photo with the caption...
"Charlies Phillips at Stetler, Alberta son of Ben and Ida (Small) Phillips"

also another photo with the caption...
"- Charles Phillips
- Ben Phillips - Red Deer, Stetler, Alberta
- George Small
- Ida (Small) Phillips..."

There is still another photo with the caption...
"Adry Phillips, son of Ida (Small) and Ben Phillips of Stetler, Alberta"

It appears that these two fellas, Charles & Benjamin Phillips may have come to Stettler from the St. Thomas area of Ontario; but, I don't know when. Benjamin Alfred Phillips was b. abt 1857; Charles Gladston Phillips in Oct 1890. This is the first I've heard of Adry Phillips. Ben Phillips, his wife Ida and son Charles were in the 1891 Census for Ontario; however, I did not find them in the 1901 Census; so, perhaps they were already here in Alberta at that time. Do these names do anything for anyone out there? If so, please contact me at kfwet@telusplanet.net.

Thanks ever so much!
Shauna

Am interested in any information relating to the family of Alexander DICK and Elizabeth LILLICOME. They had two daughters, both teachers. Kate married Harry LOCKWOOD, a farmer near Fenn. Mary married Phillip JONES, in Erskine. Mary and Phillip had four children: Alex, Douglas, Don and Phyliss.
Uncertain when the family left Bruce Co., Ontario for Alberta, but probably around turn of the century.

I am looking for information on James William Eckert, Foster Franklin Eckert, Charles A. Hooser, George Harrison, and Taylor Aikins. These relatives were all in the Gadsby area from, I believe, about 1905 to about 1920. They were farmers. Some of them had a band they called "The Maple Leaf Orchestra". The orchestra was made up of Eckert, Harrison, Mcpherson and Nourse. Anyone who may have any type of information on these families please contact me. Also anyone who knows anything about "The Gadsby and District Pioneers association".
