Karin Hedlund b. 1855 - Sweden d. 1911 - Canada

After many years of searching I have finally traced my husband's G-G-Aunt (Karin Nilsdotter Hedlund wife of Charles John Hedlund) from Sweden to Meeker County Minnesota to Roseau County Minnesota then finally to Canada. I have found the family in the 1911 Census in Strathcona district. My confusion results from the only death record I can find for Karin Hedlund states her "Death Date (yyyy/mm/dd): 1911 / 8 / 3" but the census was taken on June 23, 1911 and Charles is listed as a widower. Could it be that the correct date is March 8, 1911 not August 3, 1911?

Any insight or further information would be appreciated. If anyone can confirm that she died/is buried in Strathcona that would be great too!

Thanks in advance
Robyn
San Diego, California

I am especially interested if anyone comes across an Ezra Dingman. He left Michigan and went out west in the late 1800 or early 1900. Can find no information on him. It is believed he went to Washington or Oregon but Dingman names in Alberta are same as his family in Ontario Canada. Willing to share information.
Hello, I AM WONDERING IF ANYONE CAN SHED SOME LIGHT ON THIS FOR ME. I am in search of my birthmother dob: Feb 28,1913, Wainwright,AB Her name is Beatrice(Buddy) Florence Lillian Freebody, married Nov.23,1944 to Rockford Ault.My bmother chose to leave my father & me approx 1945.Only verbially did I hear that she is dead, possiblily in the 1960's & at the coast, so I am assuming that means the Vancouver area.Or surrounding areas. She would have been 90 this past Feb.I have all her birth certificates but can not come up with a death certificate.Vitals Stats. in Vancouver suggested that she may have taken up with another man & if she did die may be buried under another surname. Does anyone know if one can be buried under ANY SURNAME? Or can some one tell me if there is a website to check for people who may have been buried through social assistance.
Other names in this family are:
Alberta Florence(Dolly),Reginald,Warwick,Katherine (does any of these names sound familiar) Some lived in the Calgary area also.
Thank you,

Hi,
I have a postcard photograph that I'd like to see go back to a family member. It is of "Alexander Gordon Gunn" either taken on April 5th 1922 or that's his birthdate. I'm not sure which. He looks to be about two or three years old in the picture and is wearing the cutest furry white cap and coat. It's also noted on the postcard that he was from Irma, AB.
Please email me directly if you are related.

Stouffer--Bowman

I have been searching for information on Mabel Bowman who was married to David Jacob Stouffer. They had both been born in York, Ontario and had migrated south. I don't know if any children were born in Canada. Their last child was born in Washington State, USA.

They seem to moved around a bit but they were in Wainwright(don't know if a town, county or what) when she died I think around 1905--1910, and i understand she is buried there.

Mabel was my grandmother but my father was but a child when she died and so she has no information. We strongly believe her name to have been Bowman or Borman. We know the name Bowman was changed from Bauman.

Her family were Mennonites so may have had services in a Mennonite church or buried in a Mennonite cemetery.

Any help from anyone will be greatly appreciated. Please e-mail information, if any.

Thank You Mary

I also presume he was buried somewhere in the area, as he was from Sweden. Would really like to have a date of death and burial place for Carl. Charles and Emily are both buried in Wainwright Cemetery. Thank you so much.
He moved there from Montana. He worked for the Grand Trunk Pacific Railroad. Supposedly there is a blacksmith shop that still bears his name, "Clem's Blacksmith Shop". We was married to Katherine Redmond, (b. 1860 Syracuse, NY, d. 1936 Cedar Rapids, IA)

I am interested in learning of any facts or listings that might confirm and further define his time in Alberta. I would be interested in learning of any information found in: city directories, phone books, tax rolls, land records, Roman Catholic Church records, railroad personnel lists, etc.

Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

Tom Rice
Stouffer - Bowman families

I am trying to help a friend who is searching for the following: We have been searching for Mabel Bowman who was married to David Jacob Stouffer. They were both born in York, Ontario and had migrated south. I don't know if any of their children were born in Canada but I do know the last child was born in Washington State USA in 1902

They seem to have moved about a bit but they were in Wainwright when she died, I think between 1905 and 1912 and I understand that she is buried there. They were Mennonites so services may have been in a Mennonite church or she may have been buried in a Mennonite cemetery.

David was a miller and if there are flour mills or other kinds he may have worked in one of them.

Mabel was Ruth's grandmother but her father was but a child when she died and so she has no information. We strongly believe that her name was Bowman/Bauman though she believes her father pronounced it Borman.

If anyone has any information please e-mail me and I will get in touch with Ruth immediately.

Thank You Mary

Am seeking information on the Wakefield family who have resided in Wainwright for many years. Robert John Wakefield was the son of Robert Wakefield and Hanna Burns and was born in Kingston Ontario in 1858 and died in Wainwright in 1937. He was married twice, firstly to Margaret Elizabeth Willrick (1868 - 1901) and then to Louise Rachael Morris (1878 - 1953). He had 3 children with Margaret - Stuart, Mabel and Robert and 4 children with Louise - Pearl, Margaret, Evelyn and John. Mabel married Fred McLeod in Edmonton in 1923. Any information at all on any of these people would be most appreciated.

I'm looking for any information available on the history of Chauvin, as well as information on the family of William Jabez CUBITT, who was the grain buyer in Chauvin form 1915 to the '30's. He was married to Mabel (aka Mamie) SHAW in Prince Albert, SK in about 1912; they had three children, Phyllis Nora, born Prince Albert January 15, 1913; William Edmund John born Chauvin December 13,1915; and Mamie born Chauvin about 1917. William joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force on September 5,1916 in Chauvin. Phyllis married Arthur MONTGOMERY (born Oak River, MB January 26, 1902) in Chauvin on January 30,1930. They had six daughters: Mabel, Doris, Rita, Marlene, Joy (died in infancy) and Carol. Arthur enlisted in the army in 1940 and was killed in 1942. William Jr married Eileen Somers in Chauvin in 1935 and enlisted in the navy in 1939. Any information on these families would be most appreciated.

I'm interested in learning about life in the village of Chauvin in the late 1930's to mid '40's. My mother's family lived there during that time. Her grandfather William Cubitt was the grain buyer at the elevator; he and his wife Mamie (nee Shaw) lived in a large white house on a hill just outside of town. Her parents, Phyllis Cubitt and Art Montgomery met at a community dance there in about 1929. We know very little about the Montgomery side of the family. If anyone was around in Chauvin in those days and remembers any of the aforementioned, I would love to hear about it!

Looking for a Taylor, probably Renard,or Rginald, who married a Marie, about 1921. He came for the harvest and ended up marrrying the farmers daughter, Marie. He was supposed to have died in 1925 but I cannot find a cemetery listing for him. He was supposed to have shot himself in an accident while climbing over a fence.
After he was gone, the welfare took the 2 kids. She was supposed to have died later in Calgary.
So does anyone have a family with a Marie in it that disappeared.
A Marie Taylor put in a birth announcemtn at the end of January 1923. My mothers birth was 29 Jan, 1923
