I have located in "Trail origins shrouded in Indian myth/legend" by C. D. Denny and published in The Sturgeon Gazette Feb 28, 1984 page B 5. It provides a clearer description of the Halfway Lakes. By present Highway locations, one Halfway Lake is 7.2 km east of Clyde Ab and just north of Provincial Highway #18 and adjacent to Wakamao Lake, and the other appears to be an unnamed lake another 5.6 km further east and 3.2 km south of the same Highway # 18. They were situated near the Landing Trail known as McNelly's Stopping Place (at SW 1/4 25 Range 24 Twshp 59 W4) and the next one a little north; Gullion's Stopping Place which might have been on NW 1/4 36 R. 24 T 59 W4)
These locations are close to Highway 18 about 22 km and 27 km east of the intersection of P. H. #18 and #44 in Westlock - about half an hour drive.
