I have just finished reading 15 years of Christmas letters that my aunt received from her cousin (Isabel Johston) living in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Canada. My grandmother (born Minna Schumann) and this cousin's mother (Ida Schumann Johnston) were sisters. Several times in these letters the Isabel referred to two women (Bertha Fee and Emma Warnke Janzen), saying, "their mother(s) and our mother were cousins. Never once, does she mention the maiden name of this mother.
Bertha Fee's obituary from 1988 was included but with no reference to parents names. However there are two brothers, Adolph and Otto Schuman. She had a sister who was Lydia Grabowsky. There is also three nieces, Myrtle Forth, Doris (Henry) Schneider and Hilda (John) Dewald. Children of these nieces were pallbearers.
The mother of Emma Warnke was Bertha with no maiden name. She had a daughter Matilda Mossip. I am search for the maiden name of the mothers of these women. Additionally, the grandmother (Caroline Freimann) of my grandmother, Minna, brought her and her siblings to Wetaskiwin from Prussia in 1902, after the death of the last parent. My grandmother was 9 years old at that time and remembered little of her heritage. I found Caroline on the 1906 census, living with her son, Fredrick Freimann, in that area but don't know when she died except it was before 1911.
