Paklin or possibly Paquelin

I am looking for anyone who might know more about this name. The family immigrated from France in the late 1800's . I believe the name was originally spelled Paquelin and was changed to Paklin upon the move. The mother stayed in Wetaskawin but one of the sons, Eugene Irene Paklin, moved to the Black Hills in South Dakota around 1900. He may have had a sister named Martha. If anyone can help in this quest it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have just finished reading 15 years of Christmas letters that my aunt received from her cousin (Isabel Johston) living in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Canada. My grandmother (born Minna Schumann) and this cousin's mother (Ida Schumann Johnston) were sisters. Several times in these letters the Isabel referred to two women (Bertha Fee and Emma Warnke Janzen), saying, "their mother(s) and our mother were cousins. Never once, does she mention the maiden name of this mother.
Bertha Fee's obituary from 1988 was included but with no reference to parents names. However there are two brothers, Adolph and Otto Schuman. She had a sister who was Lydia Grabowsky. There is also three nieces, Myrtle Forth, Doris (Henry) Schneider and Hilda (John) Dewald. Children of these nieces were pallbearers.
The mother of Emma Warnke was Bertha with no maiden name. She had a daughter Matilda Mossip. I am search for the maiden name of the mothers of these women. Additionally, the grandmother (Caroline Freimann) of my grandmother, Minna, brought her and her siblings to Wetaskiwin from Prussia in 1902, after the death of the last parent. My grandmother was 9 years old at that time and remembered little of her heritage. I found Caroline on the 1906 census, living with her son, Fredrick Freimann, in that area but don't know when she died except it was before 1911.

I'm looking for information about Frank Clifford CHIDDY who was born in Easton, Hampshire in December 1881. He died in Wetaskiwin on the 21st of November, 1935 and is buried in the Old Cemetery. Frank worked as an engineer for the CPR. Frank's brother, Cecil Wixon CHIDDY, lived with my grandparents in Kamloops, BC in the years before WWI. Cecil was born in Easton on May 31, 1883 and died at Festubert, Belgium on May 24, 1915. My grandfather, Hugh Godfrey Statham, was Cecil and Frank's cousin - Hugh's mother was a Chiddy. There was also a sister, Dorothy Ruth Chiddy, who married Gordon Harvey and lived in Burnaby, BC. I recently took copies of Frank's obituary while on a trip to Edmonton. It mentions a daughter, Norma, and his wife. Her name was Alma Hansen and she was born in Sweden. She died in 1968. I have been told that Norma married John MacEachern and lived in Wetaskiwin but that she died a few years ago.

I'd really like to find out when the family members emigrated. In addition to the three Chiddys and Grandpa, two of Grandpa's sisters, Sophy Marguerite and Grace Beatrice, came to Canada. My best guess is that they arrived within a few years of each other between 1907 and 1911 but I don't know for sure.
She had several brother's and sisters. Olga and Emil (twins) Annie, Hattie, Eric, and I am missing one.

I am hoping to find someone who may know something about relatives of mine who came to Canada in 1907. They may have first settled in Saskatchewan. On the ship list their names were Mattis Strom, wife Kristina, dau. Amelia, dau. Anna and da. Karin. Kristina had a cousin in Alberta (west of Wetaskiwin), therefore I am wondering if they later moved to Alberta. I know I'm grasping at straws but have no where else to turn except to these message boards, with the hope that someone who knew them may see the query.

Many thanks!
Georgina

Looking for any information on Alexander Gray Neill and his family. Alexander was born 7 July 1856 in Mill of Torr(Kincardine Parish), Perthshire, Scotland. Immigrated to Wisconsin, USA in 1859 with his parents (John Neill and Margaret Moreland). Married an Elizabeth I. ? between 1880 and 1886, possibly in Wisconsin?. Immigrated to Canada in 1898. By 1901 (based on Census of Canada) was living in Wetaskiwin Township. Had at least 4 children: Robert M. {1886, USA}; Hugh M. {1887, USA}; Joseph D. {1896, USA}; and Alberta M. (girl) {1899, Alberta}. Based on an 1922 obituary for his brother, John (from Wisconsin), Alex was living in Camrose, Alberta. I have some information that indicates that his daughter, Alberta I think, was married to a Ray Sawyer(s), but do not know where they lived. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
I am trying to trace the Death Certificate of my Maternal Grandfather - JOHN PEARSELL JOHNSON, discharged from 151st O.Bn in Calgary on Feb 7th 1919. My mother Doris Alvira Johnson was born in Wetaskiwin on the 17th July 1920, and shortly after this her father John P Johnson was killed. I believe it was something to do with the prohibition laws at that time and a bullet! My grandmother Rose returned to England with my mother shortly after, whatever happened never to be told until a date too late. I have tried a researcher but have found nothing, any clues would be gratefully accepted in my search.

Eddy ran a gas/service station in Wetaskiwin and/or Falun with Ted Reynolds or ? Carlson. Emma Obena Ness died in a car accident on Nov. 13, 1940 and is buried in the old Wetaskiwin Cemetery, plot 29,03,a. Eddy is buried beside her (Elling Edward Ness, 1881-1956, plot 29,04a). Eddy's brother Henry Ness moved his family to this area as well.
Would like to know when Orval and Eddy died, where Orval may be buried, where the gas station Eddy owned was, and any information about Henry Ness and family. Also how to find the Old Wetaskiwin Cemetery. Any information about what newspapers would have in this area for these years to look for obituaries is also appreciated.

Thanks

Thelma
I am looking for information regarding my ggUncle Duncan Shaw originally from Glasgow Scotland. Duncan Shaw is my late mothers (Hazel McLintock nee Shaw born 13th March 1934 died 10th October 1973) Uncle. His brother is my late grandfather George Shaw (born 11th June 1929 in Glasgow died June 1987) and his sister-in-law my late grandmother (Mary Torrance Shaw nee Crawford born 1st October 1900 died May 1974). I have recently found a number of photographs which show Duncan and "Sadie" 14th October 1934 and my the looks of these photographs this could have been their wedding. I have also found photos of Eva Dick and her sons Kenneth aged 5 and George aged 3 and Bobby at a very early age. I have also found a photograph of Duncan in his Army uniform but can't make out which regiment although the hat appears to be a Scottish regiment. I would think that Duncan would have joined the Army in Wetaskiwin before 1939 as their is a photo of my mum and Duncan at her home when she was around 3/4 years old. I know from your Canada 411 that there are a number of Shaw's in Wetaskiwin but also in Millet. I believe that Duncan would have been farming as there is a small photo of what appears to be farm buildings close to the Beaver River where they went swimming (as commented on the back of one of the photographs). Any information would be greatly appreciated as my sister, my brother and myself would love to know.
Any reply awaited with hope.

I was browsing the rootsweb site and entered my Swedish grandfather's original surname Hammarton to see if anything came up. His name was Karl Petter Hammarton and when he emigrated to Canada, he changed his name to Carl Peter Hamilton. His brother changed his last name to Hammarberg. The two brothers married sisters (I believe their surname was Nilson) and lived in the Wetaskiwin area. My mother has done some family research and has gone back a few generations, so might have some useful information.

They would be cousins of mine.
Emma is the daughter of Emil and Emelia (Tunberg) Erickson who emigrated to this area from Sweden in 1903 or 1904. Emma was the only child, and was born by 1912.

I have a letter from Emil to my grandmother, Edla (Wiklund) Tunberg Wiklund, from 1912, stating that they were in Donalda. Then I found homesteading records which moves them to Wetaskiwin by 1918.

I have the family records from Sweden (I just moved to the US), and will share the family tree with relatives. I hope someone can help me!!!

THANKS!
Gaby

The Burgar family came to Wetaskiwin in 1900, they appeared
in the census, and I have found land documents in their names. Frederick Burgar, his wife Eliza, sons Hiram and Hugh, and daughter Catherine all came together from Vienna Ontario. My father, named Hiram as well, was only one year old at the time.
Catherine is believed to have taught school in Wetaskiwin before she moved to Edmonton to teach at the McKay School.
There, she became principal of the school, which was no easy feat in those days.
Any additional data would be appreciated.

I am searching for relatives of the Marson family. they came from the Derbyshire England area about the 1890's (I think). I was led to believe that there was a father and 9-11 sons. They were said to have a homestead in the area. The only name I know for sure is John Edwin Marson who is my grandfather. He at some point moved Victoria B.C. and probably did not spend to much time in the area. Any information you can suppily is appreciated.
