We just found a great aunt of my husband who moved to Canada in 1913 but has very blatantly lied about her age on her marriage certificate three years later. She is trying to say she was seven years younger than she was and aged 27, not her real age of 34!
Apart from the obvious personal reasons she may have had, we were wondering if anyone knew of a legal reason why – perhaps an age restriction on immigrants?
Any clues, we’d love to know…
