Canada East was the name of the present day province of Quebec, between the years 1841 and 1867. The southern portion of present day province of Quebec was called Lower Canada from 1791 to 1840.
In Quebec, vital statistics (baptisms, marriages and burials) were kept only by the Church. To search for a birth in Canada East or Lower Canada or Quebec, consult the Drouin Collection.
