My name is Jon. I live in the southeastern united states. My grandfather was born in Churchhill, Manitoba. He was born in a catholic orphange around 1902.He came to the u.s. sometime after 1910. He said he had a brother, that he lost contact with. He crossed over the boarder and from what I understand made his way to Pennsylvania. He later moved to Tennessee. He married and had one child, John, who is my father. According to a 1930 census my grandfather indicated he was born in New Jersey. This most likely was a tactic to keep from being deported. My grandfather was a wonderful man and told me many interesting stories about the Polar Bear capitol of the world. My grandfather's name is William Dennnis Cleary. His birthday was listed as 12/25/02. If there is anyone in churchhill who has an idea of where I could continue my search please let me know. I look forward to hearing from any friends from up there.
