Hi, In Canada- the name was often spelled CHORNEY -CHORNY -
[BLACK in English]
I think the z may have confused others.

CZORNA ,CHORNA etc - is the female version of the name
CZORNY etc is the male verson of the name.
Often when people refer to the family members - they may only refer them by the surname in conversation - CZORNA - does all the work in the home etc.

GALICIA / HALYCHYNIA - the same place - one is the Polish Spelling the other is Ukrainian . All depends on who was the ruling nationality at the time.
When under the Austro Hungarian rule - people were considered citizens of Austria - thus - some papers will state Austrian [ which may confuse some researchers]
I think the z may have confused others.
